Very nice. That is some clean stitching of the pano, most apps leave broken or blurry edges.

I'd sure like an RSS feed for your gallery, John. It would be a treat to have these pop up in my news feed when I'm on the road.

RE: Pros and cons of renderers
Please do download and use any free or demo render software and use them for at least a few months. It's really the only way you're going to get an idea of their strong and weak points. I went through pretty much every single available render app, even some obscure and out of date ones before I settled on the one I use now. It took years, I was learning about features and the rendering process while whittling down the number of apps I liked. I don't think render apps are something you can, or should, lock yourself in to a single app right off the bat. Half the fun is learning all the cool stuff you can do with them anyway!

App for viewing .skp on iOS
I was browsing the app store for something that might be able to do SU-like drawing on a iPhone. No luck yet on that front, but I did happen across this app that claims to be able to display various file types on the iPhone/iPad. I know requests for this ability pop up now and again here, maybe this app will work? I haven't tried it yet, so I can't say one way or the other.

Ah, I share your feelings for your building John. Unfortunately, my wife would make ME do the digging...

RE: Windows solutions
I would consider starting the computer in safe mode and going to Add or Remove Programs, then looking for the offending software that caused the problem and see if there is a leftover uninstaller available and try uninstalling it there. It seems the malware may be looking for a .dll that was deleted when the rest of it was deleted. There may be a portion of it left over that is seeking parts of itself to reinstall or continue operating.
If you know the name of the program that was causing the error, check the Task Manager CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and look for a process with the same name and kill it. Also check services (Services.exe) and see if anything is running there by the same name. Stop the services with the name. Look for a directory on the computer where the app was installed and delete the directory.
If you're not into digging around in your computer, try:
All of these are free. The can be uninstalled after you are finished with them. Do not run them at the same time, I've had Spybot and Ad Aware cause issues in XP when I did that. Haven't tried it in Win 7 yet, but I don't want to have to break something as an experiment.
Also, make sure you have Microsoft Security Essentials turned on and updated.
Was there no file specified when the error popped up?

RE: Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) landing
Hey 8 year old me - I had to go to bed early and didn't get to watch it because I had to wake up at 04:15 for work. Find a job that doesn't make you do that!

RE: Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) landing
Way to go, NASA. I saw the complexity of the landing sequence and wondered what the heck they were thinking, but it worked OK!
Can't wait to see more images and the results of any analysis they do.

RE: 360 panorama iPhone app free
Have this app, it was free about 6 months ago too. Great little app.

RE: LIBFRODO6
Frodo makes the ONERINGLIB plugin, lots of folks looking for it but he's being stingy with it. There's no LIBFRODO plugin, though. Sorry.

Thanks, I've already been sucked in to a couple of songs. Nice variety.

RE: "Avatar" project aims for human immortality by 2045
I don't think it will happen. Ever. I think the body and mind are linked as you say, and growth, change, time and interaction with the environment places the mind in a constant state of change. It rearranges connections, kills some and makes new others. Others are lost with age. This gives humans a certain irreplaceable quality, call it what you will, a "soul" or whatever, and it cannot be replicated or preserved by a machine. It would be "you" frozen in time, your self-awareness or "soul" would be gone.

RE: SketchUcation Member's NETWORK?
Sounds like a good plan. It may create an internal referral network for work, trade or expertise. The only drawback I would see by making it private is that it would prevent external employers or those seeking expertise from easily finding those that have those skills, but the solution to that is a simple forum post requesting said info.

RE: Pinterest - Are you ADDICTED?
https://pinterest.com/klippklopp/
Yep. I went on a pintrest bender and posted all kinds of things, it's a visual wishlist/ideas list. I only use it now if I find something to pin, rather than seeking to fill it up with previously bookmarked ideas. Maybe once or twice a week.
Note - a lot of the cooking stuff on there is flat out BS or done by a professional. Trust me. I've thrown out a few experiments.

RE: Cleasby
Maybe that's it. It looks "maintained" and lived in, a little dirt on the road, the difference in paving, an open window. I'm just waiting for a car to come around the corner.

RE: Real Time Rendering with Direct X 11
Neat. I can't quite decipher everything that's going on. There are some issues with collision detection and the physics, objects get very jittery when held or left to rest after interacting with another shape. The caustics are odd too, I can't tell if they're reflection mapped or light linked, I'd be very surprised if they were real. I can't read Japanese and the Google Translation is poor, so it's difficult to get good info.
At any rate, it ran great on my computer. ENTER key changes between scenes. F3 temporarily removes DOF, F5 resets the scene. That's all I could figure out. Fun waste of time for a few minutes.
I'd be curious about the use and abilities of the programming. It works well on a small scene with low-poly objects, but how would it do on a large scale?
EDIT
Here's more:Del/insert - DOF top/bottom
pageup/down - zoom
Home/end - focus? -

Need a balcony to display the...merchandise. Unusual design choice, lol.
