Just wanted to thank Thomthom again. I'm currently working on a project that has a lot of junk in a certain layer, and found no other way to do the job but to use his plugin.
Thanks!

I was wondering if there is any other way to bring a large model (say, 300k polygons) from another SketchUp file. I've tried copy-pasting and importing, but both are veeeery sloooooow. In fact, currently I've been importing a model for 20 minutes already. Any ideas?
sigh
I'm guessing that offer won't be available in my country, just like I can't upgrade to 7 Ultimate. I guess it's time to assemble a new rig, anyway.
I keep hearing about identity theft in the US. Never heard of it down here (fingers crossed). Maybe it's because here you always have to show your original citizen ID (called "cΓ©dula") when doing transactions, and some banks even digitize your fingerprint when cashing a cheque? Our ID card has more security features than a passport...
But, but... Wouldn't a multi-language dictionary attack crack any passphrase... ?
Lumion 2.5 has just been released, and with it a new referral system that gives you points for your friends' purchases. You can use these points to upgrade your current license. If you're using Lumion Free, you also get more objects from the library for the emails you send to your friends from within the application.
For example: If you email your referral link to a friend and he buys a regular Lumion license (1,500β¬), you get 1 point. If he buys a Pro license (3,000β¬), you get 2 points. If you're a user of the Free version, you can upgrade to a regular license for 2 points, and from there to a Pro license for 2 more points (4 total). If you already have a Pro version, you can use these points to get additional seats. Sounds neat. Hopefully you'll also be able to use these points to upgrade to version 3, but there's no word from the developers yet.
Here are my referral links in case you want to help me get points

To buy Lumion Pro license:

My arms are already tired after watching that video.
Buy a Mac. This way you won't be able to compete with me (I use some Windows-only software) unless you install Bootcamp + Windows 7.
Use a combination of Google Earth terrain + 3D buildings.
View > Toolbars > Google. Have fun experimenting with each option.

This was a year ago, things picked up well since then, thanks all the same guys.
Still, remember it can take months or even years of developing a relationship until they hire you. Better start finding new clients now.
You don't need to render at such huge sizes:

To get the final printing size @300dpi, use Smilla Enlarger:

Even with your own office, you do have bosses... your clients. Now they write your checks.
I have, too, after this client kept changing the color of a wall for an entire day. Never heard of her again.
Oh. You're right.
Yet another reason to thank the Thea team.
I'll keep this in my radar.
Most render plug-ins will not render a section cut, so you'll have to use this trick:

For those already having Thea+SU plugin, there will be no "upgrade fees".
Are you sure? I see this as a totally different product. Maybe Tomasz can confirm this.
Could not stop thinking about Disney's Fantasia 2000 during Elgar's piece, he he.
Thank you for the insight, Alan.
So, what's the spirit of the rest of the season? More highbrow?
I've just watched one of the strangest concerts on Concert Channel HD. It was the Last Night of The BBC Proms 2009.
I had never seen such a light-hearted classical music event; it almost felt like watching a soccer match, complete with a narrator. Such an enthusiastic public waving flags and singing... The humor during the piece performed by vacuum cleaners being shot by hunters... Such weird costume worn by the singer of "Rule Britannia". The people in the park, the fireworks during Handel's music... It certainly was unique, but at the same time it was really strange to a foreigner like me. After some research (thanks, Wikipedia) I'm starting to understand what it's all about.
So, have you ever been to one of these?
