FYI
Test made with about 200 K and complex architectural project file.
Lots of sub-groups and components.
i7 unlocked cpu + 8 mb Win 7 64 4 threads used
Raylectron V2 1hr. plus and still working.
Kerkythea 32 bit under 20 min to finish.
Artlantis 1.2.6 under 20 min to finish
Twilight same as Kerky.
Photon map with anti-alias.
(Atl uses radiosity)

What a shame but all may not be lost.
I use File Scavenger 3.0
Old app but will dig out the files as long as the drive works.
More than once I have said yes to the delete and kill key

My version was about $50 US and worth every penny.
It will recover a whole drive but must copy to another backup drive.
Also as I recall it will also copy selected folders to a different folder on the same drive.

My choice for a new system with i7 second gen and an Asus P8Z8-F/GEN3 mobo.

GeForce GTXZ 550 Ti 2GB GDDR5.

I'm not a pro on video hi end stuff but this looks like pretty good match for SU.

Standard beachfront wood pile systems use 12" diam driven wood pilings about 12'to 16' max o.c. with 12x12 pile caps.
The pile caps are connected to the pilings with drift pins and the system is cross braced both ways in all bays with 2x12 members.
Seismic and wind loads are transmitted to this platform per engineering calcs and location requirements.
The attached photo of one of my projects on the beach in Malibu should help fill in the blanks.
