you want the light itself (the rectangle) to appear to be a different color? Or you want the light that is cast from it to be a different color? I'm not sure I follow what you are trying to do here.

RE: VRay Problem - undulating reflections
change your output file type to png or something other than jpg. It may just be an image compression artifact

And BTW, 360 ain't 0
No, we actually do treat it as 0 for the physical camera. There are cameras out there that can do a 360 degree image or video, but they employ the use of multiple cameras and then stitch the images/video together. A physically accurate camera can't capture true 360 degrees with one lens.

nor this is a bug
absolutely not, you are correct

just a bad documented feature.
You again, are absolutely correct

Just use Model Info > Statistics > Purge Unused... to do it to everything.
My 'Purge All' tool is very similar... but that allows you to purge only specific types of thing - e.g. 'Layers' - if desired it also can report what it has done in more detail...
http://sketchucation.com/resources/pluginstore?pln=PurgeAllTIG's tool is the one i use to get around the VRay linking of sub materials, i just remove material from the 'to be purged' list
That isn't necessary if you use the purge unused option in the V-Ray material editor

RE: Light patches
glad that worked, we encountered this bug about a week or two ago and fixed it.

RE: VRay OpenEXR not saving
On OSX there is an issue that requires you to specify the file extension. Aside from that, the only thing I can think of, is that the path specified either is located in a folder that doesn't exist, or there is an permissions issue preventing you from saving anything there. Choose another path and try again. Use a small scene with just a box or something.

RE: Can i save to an .skm with .vismat link?
I believe Trimble is already working on 2014, I highly doubt they are going to spend even a second, trying to improve SU8

RE: Texture image size limit
We use the path specified in the V-Ray material editor's properties. If this fails, we try to search for the image. If this fails, we extract the image from SketchUp.
-
RE: Texture image size limit
if we can find the file you reference for the texture on your computer, at the path specified, you will be rendering with the full resolution image. If you rely on SketchUp to provide the texture for the render, by moving or deleting the file for example, then we extract the image from SketchUp and use that.

RE: How to make a LED light stripe?
we handle a purge unused properly when you use our UI, but no, we aren't going to litter a SketchUp model with empty groups to prevent the native purge unused tool in SketchUp from removing materials that are used as sub materials. SketchUp needs a way to mark a material as being used, or an observer that allows us to handle that function, once they add that ability, we will support their native tool.
-
RE: How to make a LED light stripe?
fyi, purging unused materials from the sketchup model, will cause certain V-Ray materials to not function properly. This is because we allow materials to use other materials as sub materials. Sub materials may not be applied to any objects in the SU scene, so it assumes it is safe to purge, even though this will break any materials utilizing that sub material

Or just remove the blueish color cast in post processing.
I believe that is essentially what the white balance for the physical camera does

RE: HELP! Blue Render Vray
you can also change the white balance for the physical camera to be a blueish color, which will cancel out the blue contribution from the texsky

RE: V-Ray Beta 1.6 Animation Export Location?
there's no benefit that I'm aware of. I believe it's just a bug.

RE: What to do about this error message?
You ran out of memory. SketchUp crashes once you get to about 3-4gb of memory usage, regardless of your PC's hardware. In the next release, there will be a way to offload a good chunk of memory usage to a local 64bit instance of the (Windows) DR Spawner (yes, OSX users can utilize a Windows DR Spawner, and no, we don't have a 64bit version of the DR Spawner for OSX yet), and skip any render processing within the SketchUp process itself.
tips:
-
Reduce the usage of Displacement in your model. If you aren't looking at a surface from a profile angle, you could probably get away with using bump instead of displacement
-
Render directly to a VRImage to reduce the amount of memory that the VFB uses to display your rendered output (it can use a TON, especially if you're rendering multiple channels)

*Users who purchased V-Ray for SketchUp between April 15th, 2013 and the official release date will be eligible for a free upgrade
there ya go. I thought there was an upgrade price as well as a full purchase price, but I guess that just goes to show how much of the marketing/sales info I'm aware of around here.

RE: Thea - is it the best? ;)
we do all of our development for V-Ray for SketchUp on Macs. We use windows more than OSX, but we hop back and forth between them. I love this this machine, and have never found a Windows-only mobile device (technically Macs are PCs) that compares to it.

RE: V-Ray Beta 1.6 Animation Export Location?
no worries, just try it out with a smaller value for fps in our render options, or the transition time between scenes in SU, just to make sure I'm not losing my mind (totally possible). Otherwise you'll have to sit there for a long time to verify what I said was correct.
