you can change the radius via the entity info dialog.. the same way you would change the radius of a circle except that it also works if the circle has been extruded

Heh, that's cool πŸ˜„ Inattentional blindness is to blame... I've seen that number of segments is grayed-out, and I didn't seen that the radius is fully editable.

    • RE: How to model Ceiling patterns

KT support normal mapping (I don't know about displacement maps, anyway, displ. maps take long time to render). Normal mapping is the best choice for that kind of pattern. There are several software that can do normal maps from photos.
If you can model a segment of that pattern (it doesn't need to be concave, because you will map the texture that way, on the ceiling ornament), you can use this plugin to make a normal map from SketchUp directly http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=33183, then map it on the concave surface and make the KT material πŸ˜„

As mitcorb said, the main profile can be made with follow-me tool and the model, if you have a bitmap and you mush have it modeled, you can try Bitmap to Mesh plugin. But you will clog your models with polygons ... better approach would be texture and normal/displacement map for rendering. I assume that the project will be rendered.

They're for SketchUp and SketchUp-related applications
As long as you build a Sketchup-related application, I think it's ok. But, you can ask for permission, as thomthom did. Just in case.

      What the... 😲?
6.I could change the radius of a circle that's been extruded - maybe using Scale Tool πŸ˜•
      19. finding that by holding the spacebar down you can control the zoom in so you don't zip past the
      object your zooming to
      - really ? It doesn't seem to happen anything different when I zoom and keep spacebar pressed.

      ...and the list can continue.
Maybe those should be verified, or given more detailed explanations. After all, its purpose is to teach the noobs, not to confuse them more πŸ’š

      EDIT:
      22. Also, any selection that only contains a single entity (not only a line) cannot be made a
component (or group) this way. If you select a sphere (with a bounding box), there's a single
"surface" selected only and you right click to turn it into a group/component in vain.
      - try pressing G or use the Make Component icon ... πŸ˜‰ maybe is not in vain

    • RE: It's that time again - mind is goo

It's normal to happen this, as division and multiplication are executed one after other. And .m method is actually division by 0.01 inch: 1/0.0254 = 39.37007874015748 . So, is normal that 2.m * 3.m =! 6.m , because first is made the transformation.
      Try instead (2*3).m.

    • RE: [Plugin] CleanUp

Indeed, a "remove materials from back face", but applicable only to selection (or entire model if nothing selected" would be great! The current plugin that does it, removes from entire model. And I often have windows (with or without thickness), or other transparent materials and they start to look bad after removing backface material.

No explode, but reduce the number or edges for the arc. and also, reduce the number of edges for the circle you used in Follow-Me operation.

It looks flat painted, not textured... maybe he has hidden geometry turned on? Or edges not smoothed?

      Hello Dave R,

      Thank you for your answer.

So I've tried it and just the black lines disappear, but the surface itself is still plenty of small faces/rectangle that don't make a great smooth surface as i would like.

      Don't know what to do...

Please post a image with that "small faces that don't make a smooth surface.

    • RE: [Plugin][$] FredoScale - v3.6a - 01 Apr 24

I used FredoScale - stretching with orientation of scaling box on this model and caused bugsplat. Is it possible to fix the plugin? It's a group that has inside some components. I applied FredoScale on a copy of that group.

EDIT: if I enter the group, it becomes unique and it can be stretched. My suggestion: FredoScale to make it unique group prior editing. Maybe SU tries to update Group's definition and that is why it ends in bugsplat.

I don't want to get into providing support via this forum (we have a forum for that already)

Could you provide a link for that forum, please?
And, as this plugin is specially made for SU users and this is the "home" of SU users... I'd expect to get support here from time to time πŸ˜‰ . Also, if this plugin will become popular, maybe a section should be created for it.

It turns out that it is Twilight that keeps on working in the background all the time, even when SU is minimized.
I can't see why that should be necessary?
Removing Twilight brings SU back to 0% when idle (except of course when moving the mouse across its window or doing something else inside SU).
Anyone else seen this with Twilight?

Were you rendering something? Be aware that the rendering engine still works if you close the render window. You have to stop the render (either stop button, or right click on image and choose to stop after next pass), if you want to end it.
