There is no 11" default when you import them manually. Its all relative and I think its based on the relative zoom of the window. Chris

@gaieus said: When you save the component only from the model, right? Like right click > Save as...? True - I can see the same (never thought of this so far) but I think this is how it should work. By saving a component, you only save the component definition into a new file, i.e. what "defines" the component (everything but only that is inside). Imagine you have a bunch of instances of the same component - some are painted this or that way (from outside), some are scaled or flipped - which one would you "save as..." if you, for instance, do it from the component browser (where there is only one definition of them)? All in all, whatever we do with a component "from outside", is only part of the model it is used but not part of the component itself. I was afraid of this! I'm building furniture from melamine faced boards with banded edges and I wanted to make basic panels with default face material and default banding material which I can chance according to the progect. But CutList plugin gives a panel material based on the "from outside" material of the component. So I gonna deal with layers again.

I cannot say for sure, but traditionally, colons and semicolons are not "legal" characters to use in file names. Anssi

I found a way - just open the component for editing and then draw the guides inside that component, close it and then paste

HI Everybody I am new to Sketchup and I am interested in learning how to combine and import the .ds and .gsm files from a model that I found on the web. Does anybody have information about this? Thanks! Mauricio

@jhoutman said: Hello, I am the author. I am sorry I rarely stop by this forum. I changed email address so probably everything got lost. Let me know what changes you like and I will probably do them. My main hobby is woodworking. A sub hobby is Sketchup. A sub-sub hobby is ruby scripts. I do have small word documents describing the the use of the tools. And have some updates. Joel Hello, jhoutman I'm glad to see you back! And thanks for this very helpful plugin! When making boards - say shelf, it would be very handy to use simple expressions - width of the cabinet minus double thickness of the plywood. Also, a drop down list with most used names for the parts - top, bottom, back etc. in the "Input Board" window. Thanks in advance.

http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/EM/materials.rb Yes, it imports pictures as materials in SketchUP but i cannot get it to work. I open it from the menu, choose a folder with jpg but nothing gets imported into materials window. There must be a problem with folder names - I changed the name of the folder with the pictures and gave it an english name - it was cyrillic and it worked then!
