If you use bumps and/or displacement you can create some really cool rock textures too.
I saw on another thread you enquiring about flower beds, Clipmaps will work on one view only (unless you are up to moving each on individually as 'face me' will not suffice)so I suggest modeling some low poly flowers (mapping the textures right) and using them as components.
Thanks solo. . .as usual. . .I think I have UV tools. .. I just don't know what to do with them. . .I guess I need to play around with thos alittle bit more. I have so many rubies in my files it's hard to keep track of them all.

yeah. . .Tom. .this is great. This is what I am talkin' about! I guess a combo of 2D and 3D imagery is the best way to do this

anyway. . .this is great. I have to do this for several large beds, so I hope it doesnt become too poly heavy . . .but this renders up nicely. and of course, Solo . . your stuff always amazes. ..

I posted this on the Podium forum as well. .. but I am expanding my fishing net a bit. . .
I have a request. . ..can someone help me with a technique that can create a good looking 2d or 3D flower bed. I have tried Billboard components that always face model etc etc
used the component spray tool. but upon rendering the results are . . .shall we say. .. underwhelming. Any Ideas. I want something that looks like the last 3 pix but so far my experiments so far . . .not so great.
Something with manageable poly count, a good "randomness" to the texture . .etc etc. well you guys know how to do this stuff. . . .

p.s. I realize that some PP in PhoShop would be necessary . ..that's ok.

I have a 2D flower comp (Always face camera) and I can't seem to get this to do anything. It goes thru the dialogues, etc, but then after I click okay .. .nothing. . . .I even added the little line to make it a 3D comp. Nuthin'!!!

there was a great show on History Channel that was called Batman TECH and it went thru all the gizmos that Batman uses and their place in reality. Surprisingly, most of them are real or in the near future, such as the "memory Cloth". Pretty cool stuff.
Saw it on IMAX this past weekend. Ooooh Baby. The pencil thing made the whole theater groan. Ow.
This was an amazing movie. My daughter and I discussed it for hourse afterward. . .. my wife left the theater in a mild state of shock. 
you know. .. Dave Barry had the theory that flight as in airplane flight was all a myth. .. and was really jsut an example of mass-hallucination. . .his thinking was that an airplane is much heavier than say . .. a piano . .. and yet when he and a bunch of his friends pushed a piano down the runway they couldnt get it to take off, so logic being what it is, a plane can't fly either.
