I personally have had no problems with Sketchup & Leopard.
I don't do HUGE projects but with domestic type property then it works a treat.

      Hi Pete

although this is off topic I had to reply

Opened the forum today & was amazed to see a photo of where I live. Any reason you picked this area of Scotland or was it just random? Small world eh.

      Cheers Dave

    • RE: Ipod or not, that is the question.....

      Hi Utiler

I wouldn't have anything other than an iPod but then again I am a Mac fan.

I have had an iPod now for a couple of years & it works perfectly. It is incredibly easy to download music from iTunes or from a CD & I can stream the result through my car radio with an f.m. transmitter if required.
Now I know all this can be done with other MP3s apart that is from iTunes which can ony be used with an iPod, but that is a HUGE plus.
My daughter uses an iPod with a PC & it works just as good - you just download the free iTunes to the computer.
      Pros:-
      Incredible design
      Decent sound quality
      iTunes
      Huge market saturation
Did I mention incredible design πŸ˜„

      Cons :-
      Slightly more expensive

    • RE: What do you or the firm you work for specialize in?

I was a furniture designer in Local Government until about 30 years ago & then I came to the North West of Scotland to start a Hostel for Mountaineers. Great life but unfortunately not enough money & so as there was no call for furniture designers up here I turned my hand to architectural work. Mainly extensions & renovations of the old croft houses but an occasional house as well. I now seem to spend more time in my office than I did when I was in local government!!!

      Tig

Still having the same problems with v3 as with the previous versions.

The get slope angle works fine & so the script must be working - but as previously said I don't even get the initial info box when trying to draw any of the roofs.
This must be a Mac thing.

      Tig

Tried the version 2 but still no luck.
Now when I pick the face & edge I dont get the dialogue box I had before about 'needing to pick a face & edge', but nothing else happens - no box to add the information required for eaves etc.
Tried a rectangle on the floor & a square on the floor.
Tried all the different types of roof.
Is there anybody else on the forum who has a Mac & is getting the script to work? I am now worried I am doing something really stupid & missing something out.

      Thanks for all the effort.

      Hi Tig

Yes I downloaded v1 & I have tried drawing a rectangle on the floor but with exactly the same results.

I had to rename the the V1 download as I have the problem that all downloads apart from zipped files come in as 'download.php'. The original was okay as it came in a zipped file.
I presume the v1 file is still named roof.rb

      many thanks Dave

    • RE: Roof.rb v1

      Hi Tig

First off - many thanks for the script it looks great.
However at the moment I don't appear to be able get it to do anything at all.
I am using an iMAC & Sketchup Pro and when I select a horizontal face on the top of a box & go to the plugins folder & pick roof - hipped roof then nothing happens at all - I don't even get the first dialogue box.
If I select a face & gable edge & pick Gable ended roof then I get the message
'You must select one horizontal RECTANGULAR [= right-angled] face, and one edge (that's at the 'gable') !' even though this is what I have done. I have tried just about every combination of edges & faces to no avail.

If you need any further info then let me know.
      Regards Dave

    • RE: Material application?

      Hi James / Gaieus

I think I have it sorted.
I made a copy of the material & then edited the size of it from 1000mm sq to 250mm sq - this then puts it in the model at 4 times the size of the original which is pretty much what I wanted.

      Thanks for your efforts.

    • RE: Material application?

      Hi James

When I have re-scaled the material in the model I can then use the eye dropper with the bucket tool & then paint other surfaces in the revised scale. However the material in the materials in model window doesnt alter & if I deselect & then select again I get the small scale version again. There is no 'save as' when I right click the material in the 'materials in model' window but if I select the altered material & do a 'list' new texture it saves in the 'my textures' folder. However when I then try to put this material on a new model it comes in at the small scale again.
I am on a Mac but I would have thought that the basics would be the same.

      Thanks for your help anyway

    • RE: Material application?

As a follow on to the previous question, can the rotated material then be saved as a seperate material which can be used in other models. In other words, one material with the grain running in the red / green direction & one in the blue direction.

Also, I have recently brought a stone texture into a model, which when applied was far to small in scale. I scaled it to suite but again is it possible to then save this amended material for use in other models so that I don't have to re-scale it every time I use it.
