Thank you Daniel, I owe it to your teachings oh great one. not only is there a need for privacy but the wall on the right of the house needs to be a sound barrier, the neighbor has several dogs that yap day and night.

I've a few neighbors like that - their dogs bark constantly the minute they see me or anyone else, and they don't stop!

Your house also reminds me of the very first project in architecture school (also a house) which was on a lot bounded on three sides by 10' walls - the professor didn't want us to worry about context. I turned mine into a giant aquarium with part of the house under water.

"great one" - I like that.

    • RE: SU & Windows 10 Current State of Play

Like Dave, one morning I was unpleasantly surprised with Windows automatically installing Windows 10 (I credit it to a co worker who came in early, started my computer, and hit "yes" when prompted). Once installed, I didn't notice any problems running my programs. Windows 10 itself was a little bit different from 7, enough to be annoying at first, but I've gotten used to it to the point I think I will now install 10 on my home computer. There was an early security update that messed up our network settings, and they replaced Internet Explorer with Windows Edge, which I am not too crazy about.

Outstanding...and inspiring. Has me considering modeling the Circus at Bath.

Very nice video using just SU, Eric.
On that elevated walkway, where the boys are kicking the soccer ball, I would think you would need netting at the railing. Otherwise those soccerballs are going to go flying over and into the courts below.

Thank you, the walled in design was necessary because of the proximity of the two neighboring houses.

Interesting. When one looks at the neighborhoods of yore (like the one my mother grew up in, where the only thing separating the houses was a shared driveway) people didn't feel the need to protect themselves from their neighbors. Since my grandmother's house was on a hill, I remeber I could stand in her backyarrd and look downhill and see all the backyards in the rest of the block.

your modelling and design skills have improved.

Purty pictures AND a video in just a few days?! Someone's been busy!
Fantastic images, Paul. The evening shot turned out very nice.
I've probably asked, or someone else has, and you've probably answered, and if I was industrious I could find it, but I am lazy, so I'll ask again - what rendering software do you use?

Beautiful texture. Where did you get it?

Beautifully textured. However, I can see the texture repeated in the same place on each board. Obviously you modeled the one board and copied it (component, I presume). I see you flipped some so it's less obvious. You might try rotating one or two of the boards 180 degrees.

    • RE: NPR Ranch

The suburb our ranch house was in had about 4 or five house designs, but even though you could recognize the design, no two were alike. The developer changed each one - they were mirrored, the brick/siding was changed, windows, etc. Nowadays they really are identical cookie cutter houses.

Dave and Daniel, thanks guys ! Ahhh .... bathrooms, one turquoise and one pink 😲

Ha! Yeah, pink. I lived in a 1960s house and it had a very pink bathroom. Very nice tile work, but pink.

When I was a kid we lived in a L-shaped ranch similar to this one. It was green - inside and out!

    • RE: Modern lake house

It's interesting. Very futuristic looking. However, to be in such a beautiful setting and yet be detached from it (your literally in a bubble) seems contrary to the point of even being there. You can't even step outside on a balcony to enjoy the air.

Nice. Are the bathroom fixtures turquoise or harvest gold.

Or avocado green. Before long, today's stainless steel will be yesterday's harvest gold/avocado green (and I can hardly wait for the day).

Nice model and rendering. It's nice to see NPR stuff.

      Where's the light coming from?

The photographer placed a bright lamp on the floor behind the island. πŸ˜†

You need to work on your refrigerator - it doesn't have the level of quality the rest of your model has.

    • RE: My first Kitchen rendering

There seems to be an unwritten rule that everyone does at least one kitchen.

I think your rendering looks great, my one critique would be that it needs some life; add some stuff to the counters, make it look like someone lives there. Also, it looks like the upper cabinets on the back wall will hit the ceiling lights when they are opened (particularly the one over the cook top).
