For the circular battlements, you can use the Rotate tool and arrays as well.

RE: [Plugin] Sketchfab uploader 1.4 - Updated
Very cool Alex, I just checked out the example on your site. It looks like a simple, useful way to show projects off.
I'm curious...how secure is the technology? Would you trust embedding a proprietary model publicly online with Sketchfab? Is there a way someone with the technical skill could extract the 3D data and recreate the model?
I'm asking because I sell 3D printed parts and would like to show the 3D model online, but wouldn't want someone to be able to extract the 3D model from the embeddable model.

RE: New freelancer help
I use PayPal to take credit cards. PayPal charges something like 3% of the transaction, but I think that's pretty standard (might be wrong tho!)
I they are paying you in person, I'd recommend Square for your Android or iOS device: https://squareup.com/

HI honestly Im very much impressed how realistic a render can get..I have one question, Can anything as awesome be done without the intervention of Max. That expensive platform that many use only to stage a 3rd party renderer?
Yes, Solo models exclusively with Sketchup, and renders mainly with Thea for Sketchup. See his work here: http://www.solos-art.com/

RE: [REQ] PDF Importer
You guys...Adam is scanning hand drawings...he can't use a PDF to DXF converter.
@unknownuser said:
we generally scan all of our hand drawings into a plotter and it creates a .pdf.
Adam, I bet there is a setting on the scanner to make a JPG rather than a PDF. What kind of scanner/plotter is it?

I've had good luck with this one: http://www.cometdocs.com/

RE: Sketchup Breakingpoint?
I'd say use the right tool for the job...Rhino shines at product design, so use it for that.
You aren't going to use a yardstick to measure to the moon, and you don't need laser-radar-heat-seeking gizmo
to measure your next stud wall.Sketchup isn't good for organic shapes. With Artisan you can get close, but even it can't make precise curves.
Here's a great article that explains this more eloquently than I can: http://cadjunkie.com/1478/choosing-a-3d-package

[Infographic] What does 1 Million 3D prints look like?
Recently Shapeways mentioned theyβve passed the 1 Million 3D printed products mark.
I made an illustration to show what 1 Million things could look like with one of my 3D printed bracelets.

This was my first try at making an infographic, so I'm curious to hear what you guys think, or what I could do to improve the next one.

I can see that being a treasured gift - also neat to show the kids when they get old enough to appreciate the work that went into saving their lives.

RE: Amazon theatre
Eli,
If everything is done but combining the parts, you can upload the STL to http://cloud.netfabb.com/ and it'll do that for you. That service is also good for fixing minor errors with the model that can be a pain in SU - especially on complex models.
Nice modeling!

RE: Caterpillar
Nice, John...very nice.

If I was picky(which I'm not), I'd say there's only one thing left...if you look closely behind the back tire, way off in the distance, there's one of these missing: CAT D12. I think it would balance the composition just a teeny bit better.

RE: Manifold solid
Nice! Good luck on the rest of the project.

We love to see finished pieces -if you can post pics when its done that'd be great!

RE: Manifold solid
Here's an explanation of manifold, AKA "Solid".
You can use Thomthom's excellent Solid Inspector to help you find holes.
