RE: Needs some small assistance
Just "intersect with model" as Gaieus says again for the other side...it worked fine for me.
I had a look at your model...its looking pretty good so far. If you use more components, your modeling will speed up significantly. For example, each headlight should be a component(and would look better if it was smoothed and the circle it was constructed from had more segments). If each of the vertical bars on the grill was a component, you could copy an array to space them perfectly. Maybe you would have a hard time modeling this way, but if you split the model in half the long way, make it a component, copy/flip to the other side, then you only have to model half as much because whatever you do to one side automatically happens to the other side.

Like this:

There are a lot of tricks to help you to model faster - have a look at these tutorials if you haven't already: http://sketchup.google.com/training/videos/familiar_with_gsu.html An hour invested here will save you countless hours and headaches down the road! I hope this helps, cheers!

RE: Skyscraper
Its a nice render, but if you add more "entourage"(cars, people, etc) and maybe a little more environment (roads, background buildings), it will help tremendously. Another thing that may help is to export the Sketchup wireframe and overlay it on your render in Photoshop (or Gimp, or whatever photo-processing software you use). That will define the edges better - make the building "pop" out from the rest of the render. The "clouds effect" is cool near the top of the building, but doesn't make sense near the bottom.
I'm looking forward to more!

RE: Internal Render
I like the entire render alot, but something felt off a little and I finally put my finger on it - the brick in the 2 far right windows are much larger scale than the brick in the background window. Other than that, its perfect!

RE: Brilliant-Cut Ruby
That is a magnificent render!
...I am wondering about the joke too...

RE: Abu Simbel WIP
Fantastic work michaliszissiou and Pete.
I don't know what "baked models" are - what are they, how do you make a "baked model"? I think the advantage is clear to see though!

RE: URGENT! Cannot Upload to 3D Warehouse!
Check to see if your firewall is preventing an internet connection.

RE: Help me decide...
The second picture is where its at for me...you can still see the details on the siding, and the trees in the background still have some character. That kid on the roof adds a fun touch

RE: The Garden Pond
Good image overall
, but I agree the rocks look off a little. -

RE: What does "Parametric" mean in CAD context?
Ah, thank you mitcorb, and toxicvoxel. Yes, that's exactly what I was looking for!

So basically its an easier way to change something once you've drawn it...its easy to see why they brag about that.

What does "Parametric" mean in CAD context?
I've been looking at different CAD packages, and I see many of them listing "Parametric design" or "Parametric variables" as one of their qualities. I've searched a bit, but haven't found a good description of what that means in CAD context. Does anyone have a quick'n'easy definition or link?
Thanks,
Marcus

Could you post the SKP here for someone else to try?

RE: Heads up : Alibre Design for $99 (regularly $999)
Does anyone know if this program is good for designing buildings? I want to be able to make blueprints and print to scale - similar to Layout for Sketchup, I guess.

RE: New Marina Restaurant Renderings
I think the water looks fine, as well as the overall feel of the renders, but I wondered about the "ghosts" as well. What is the reason for using them versus photo-real people?
