      One of the biggest problems is with attempting to place a surface on existing coplaner line ends, if there was a slightly overlapping line intersecting the face I was attempting to create, SketchUp refused to insert the face until I corrected the Acad drawing. Can anyone tell me if it matters that I import dxf or dwg files?

      can you post a screenshot here

      Other problems I faced, was the weld.rb would frequently cause SketchUp to splat. Is that common?

      I've never had that problem. I'd suggest you one useful plugin Makefaces ..it's available for free on smustard. You should surely give it a try. It's really useful plugin. I work with cad files a lot on sketchup and find this plugin really handy.

      I presume you have SU Pro. Have you ever considered using LayOut? That is exactly what can easily handle to-scale, 2D output.

      Yes I do have Pro [version 8].I have never tried Layout before. Should I then export my model to layout??. What should I do then to get scaled output. I tried exporting the file as a pdf from layout but the textures get a lot hazy. Also I can't find where to specify the scale...i.e. 1:200, 1:100 etc.

    • An Elevation on a Scale of 1:100 on an A1 Sheet

      I have a SketchUp model of which I would like to print an elevation on a scale of 1:100 on an A1 sheet. I want the view with all the shadows and textures...how can I do it?? Exporting as a jpg is not an option as we cannot give a scale. When I export to AutoCAD, I can just print a 2D framework.

    • Online data storage services...how safe are they?

      I've read a lot about online data storage services. Clouds as they say. Services which claim that data on their servers is the best bet. On Sunday, thousands of Gmail users have been left with empty inboxes after their accounts were accidentally wiped clean. Are online storage services like Box.net and SkyDrive still the safest when it comes to storage? Is a file written on a CD less safe than stored on such online storage services. What if such "glitch" happens??

    • Problem in making railings using Profile Builder

      Is there a way to make perfect railings for staircases, having asymmetrical sections using profile builder? I try to make one but the cross section twists itself along the path. If there's no solution to this issue of railing making using this plugin, what is the perfect way to make one?

    • RE: [Plugin] Architect Tools

      @thomthom said:

      That's because you're using a flat plan tool. If you look at my demo video, I use 3D plan data to generate the buildings. The faces are extruded up to the lines above it. The tolerance is not the extrude height - but the tolerance for closing open gaps in the lines.

      I'm also having the same problem as arjun ..how can one create a 3d plan data??...Isn't there any way to automatically generated extruded faces out of such plans??

    • RE: Exporting textures

      @gaieus said:

      you can export that and make a texture that is seamless but of course, what would be the reason, since you could do that by simply exporting the texture image (unless I am missing something here completely)

      i did that with export 2d graphic but the texture doesn't come as seamless...i need to make a bump map of it..
