Any way to apply a brick like finish to a wall? Multiple components to face?

Hi Chris,
Thanks for this. Your very quick to respond to a request. I have a couple more but will give you some breathing time. Thanks again!!!

RE: How about a ruby to apply a 3D texture/component?
Chris,
I think if a ruby was written for this purpose, it would be a huge hit! Especially for Architectural models. Brick of all sorts, stone, siding and wood detail panels etc...I would BUY IT for sure and I'm sure many others here would too. Maybe a thread that lists a certain ruby wish and a poll attached could really help prioritize which rubies get written first between all the scripters. Maybe it could be figured out between all the ruby writers who is gonna write what. At least that way, you don't have two or more writer working on the same ruby need. Even post beside in the thread who is writing the ruby and people could PM that person with suggestions etc....just a thought or two.

Terry,
That looks great! How long it take?

There must be a technique on how to do something similar with the existing tools and rubies. Projecting onto surface or something....

Exactly Chris! This would be such a time saver and the rendering would be that much more detailed. So.....you'll have something by next week?

Let's say you have a building with different brick or rock finishes on the walls. Rather than taking a huge amount of time to draw each brick of each texture (when you can't copy and paste), there is a tool that works like this:
1-select a face, could be a wall.
2-a dialog box opens much like Profile Builder, where you would have a library of pre-drawn bricks, stone finishes, etc....pick one.
3-click OK and that finish is applied to the face.Just a thought.

RE: Importing a DWG and all curves are faceted....
Thanks both of you....I'll give it a try. Would be cool if we could all get together down at the local pub for a beer!

I just tried holding ctrl and use the eraser but I didn't notice anything happen on the curve...?

RE: Importing a DWG and all curves are faceted....
Hi Bigstick,
As far as I understood, AutoCad doesn't facet curves....?
Rhino might be my solution tho...Maybe I'll check with Kwist here to see how his Rhino learning is coming along...
Thanks for your input.

RE: Recent Work..
Jeff,
Your very skilled! Nice work to say the least. Post more jobs as you go....you do great work....especially seeing it's on site built. Some people wouldn't understand the difference in how much harder it is compared to a well equip shop.

RE: Importing a DWG and all curves are faceted....
Hi Rabbit,
The drawings I get are not detailed as the draftsman does not know the detail as to how I will build something. He will give me outside dims etc and I detail it from there. I don't use AutoCad and I can detail and build on the fly with SU. I work better in 3D than 2D. If I was to learn yet another graphic/modeling program, it wouldn't be AutoCad. Thanks for your input.

RE: Gallery
Yes.....looks neat and clean. I noticed that there isn't much tiling on the floor. How'd you do that? Looks good.

RE: Importing a DWG and all curves are faceted....
Ok....so, does anyone know if Rhino or Modo will import DWG's and NOT facet curves? Where I work, it seems everyone uses a different modeling program. The Design starts in Vectorworks(Toronto office uses C4D), then is rendered in C4D, then once approved the design goes to the CAD guy who uses AutoCad. Then I get drawings in DWG's so I can do my shop drawings. Pretty crazy. I won't get into the never ending issue of Shetchup not being taken seriously. Anyway, I got off topic so back to the original question above...
Thanks -

Thanks Jim,
Found (actually looked) the options menu. Didn't seem to make a difference tho. Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi Jean,
I don't see any dialog box come up regarding merging??? -
RE: Ocean Modelling?
"Worth" meaning worth the hassle if it doesn't resolve much. Sometimes upgrades mean more bugs ( I won't mention any (Vista) names tho)
