Ok, thanks for the replies.
I will have a look at Cross Reference Organizer.

I will have a look at Cross Reference Organizer.
I have been working on a site model with around 6 simple buildings in it which were xrefed into the site model using the Xref Manager plugin. I have never had any problems with this plugin before but recently when I tried to open the site model I got the dreaded 'Unexpected File Format' message and it would not open the file.
Luckily I was able to recover the backup file and then narrowed it down to one particular xref that was causing the error when it was reloaded in the model. I have solved this by importing rather than xrefing in the buildings and this seems to have fixed it for the moment.
This has however led me to lose confidence in the Xref Manager plugin as it seemed to be this that was causing the problem. Had I not been able to recover the backup file (which I have since read has happened to many people) then I would have lost much more work.
I am wondering if anyone else had problems like this with Xref Manager?
Ah yes, selection toys sorted me out, I wasn't looking in the right place, it's on the menu but not on the toolbar.
Thanks very much.
I was just watching this YouTube video:
At around 12:45 all the faces and edges are selected (by I assume triple clicking), the selection then goes from having all faces/edge selected to just the perimeter edges being selected.
How is this done?
Thanks for the reply. I think it may be time that I move over to Win7.
Cheers.
Hello all,
Is there a simple answer as to which operating system gives the best performance for Sketchup?
I am asking as I am about to install a new SSD into my laptop and am going to start from a clean install anyway and have the choice of XP Pro or Windows 7 32bit. I currently have XP Pro and Sketchup works very well indeed (It's a Lenovo z61p with a core 2 duo/3GB ram/ATI mobility FireGL V5200) and I have noticed that Sketchup runs considerably better on this laptop than on the desktop machine I have in the office which is much newer (Core i7 920/6GB ram/Nvidia Quadro FX 580/SSD/Win7 64bit).
I put this down to Sketchup being a 32bit application which is not optimised for running with 64bit Windows 7, is this likely to be the reason? Or does Sketchup run better in XP than any version of Win7 (32 or 64bit)? Or is it due to the graphics card?
I would like to install Windows 7 32bit but am quite happy to stick with XP Pro if windows 7 is likely to slow Sketchup down considerably.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Hello all,
I'm new to the forum, although I've been using sketchup for a while I've only been using Vfsu for a few weeks (still using the demo, version 1.48.89).
I have been trying to do a batch render, which Vray is doing as I can see it rendering each frame in the image buffer, however no matter what I try I cannot get it to save the frames as separate image files, it just overwrites the same file each time (I have opened the image file while it is rendering and seen that it changes as each frame is rendered).
I have done a few searches to try to resolve this and found a few guides to setting up rendering an animation, these refer to making sure the the "batch render" option is on in global switches, I have looked for this but there is no such option available (see screen shot below), where is this?. When referring to saving the images the guides I have found also refer to specifying the folder where the images are to be saved, I can only specify the actual filename within the folder, is this something to do with it?
I would be grateful of any assistance in sorting this out as I'm currently trailing Vfsu for my company and being able to render a series of images over night is important to us.
Thanks in advance,
Adrian
