RE: Stupid problem with xfrog trees
thank you guys, i'll give your approaches a try.

nevertheless i still hope that the support will give me an answer that i should pay the difference between the discount price of the max format and the regular of the 3ds format.
that was definetly an once in a lifetime mistake

RE: Stupid problem with xfrog trees
Iยดve contacted them days ago and didn't get any answer. i guess the problem will be that there was a discount on the .max format which isn't on the .3ds ones.

Stupid problem with xfrog trees
i've made a stupid mistake buying two xfrog libraries. i bought them in the 3DS max format because i thought it's the same like .3DS
. now i can't open the models in maxwell as it only opens .3ds formats.
i just installed the test version of 3ds max to convert the .max files into .3ds. the problem now is, when i convert them it don't convert the layers on the file and i get a .3ds file which only has one layer where i can't put different textures on.
is there a way to convert the files with the layers? or is there a simpler way to get the .max files into maxwell studio? -
RE: Modern house
i guess novena is right, i have used this maple tree from the warehouse too and it's really heavy geometry!

RE: Modern house
looking very good this far. too bad you are using a render engine inside of sketchup, maxwell studio for example wouldn't have any problems with this file size. i personally prefer 3d grass over photoshop grass, but i guess that can't be achieved inside sketchup and v-ray with the file size this big.

RE: Windmill
my shot in the blue would be that this 'cruise missile' is a zeppelin

RE: My Back Patio
looks promising! are you planning to render it when it's finished?

RE: Kindergarten project
hey dale, thanks for your suggestions. i will do a render of the areas, which are not visible in this pictures and more afar from the building. they are supposed to stimulate the free play of the children.

RE: Kindergarten project
hey Aerilius, thanks for your comment. i definetly understand your point. the thing is that my prof was looking for a pretty minimalistic concept for the garden. i personally also think that organic shapes are better for children to interact with, but in the conception progress i discarded them as the building itself has very geometric shapes which wouldn't go along organic landscape shapes.

RE: Kindergarten project
Thank you Rafael for your comment.
I agree that on the third image there's something missing in the background. As it's a WIP i will try to integrate that in the progress. Also i want to add some people to liven the scenes up. -
RE: Landscape Job
nice model and render...my critic would be the materials. you have bricks, you have concrete-grey paving, you have the beige-looking gravel and rocks...they don't fit together in my opinion. for the paving i would go with a sandstone polygon paving and for the walls i would use sandstone too. that would fit better in the mediterrean character of this model.

Kindergarten project
this is a student project i'm doing for my university. the purpose is to build a kindergarten which is mainly designed for gifted children. the building was designed by a student from the architecture faculty and the garden is my project here.
sketchup + maxwell render suite + a little photoshop
c&c of course very welcome!
