i liked the dark atmosphere of the industrial warehouse HDRI so i kept it quite dark...maybe a question of personal taste. but thanks for your suggestion ely!

RE: Aston Martin DB5 1963
really nice Simon!
the only thing telling me that it's a rendering is that little white shine around the tires...i don't know what is causing them.i just rendered a nice aston martin rapide model and if you don't mind i would like to show it to you here? i don't want to flood the gallery with all the car threads

RE: Mercedes sls
thank you very much for your hints and the video link Simon!
actually i did use the car paint shader but somehow the lighting kills the shinyness of the paint, but i thought it was okay because actually there are a lot sls out there with matt foliage on them. i must admit that i didn't use sketchup for this rendering at all. i loaded the .3ds file into maxwell studio and created a simple plane for the ground. the displacement of course increases the rendertime but as there is only the car geometry in this it was okay for me... i just love playing with displacement
i definetly will try the shadow channel solution! -
RE: Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe
very nice rendering and also thanks for sharing the link to the model!
i am VERY curious about maxwell V3!! i hope there will be a nice discount for customers...

RE: Mercedes sls
very nice modelling as always from you!
sadly i never have the patience to model more complex things like cars...i always want to render it and than forget about modelling while testrendering -
RE: Mercedes sls
...it was lifted to this location by a crane, so there's no trail. also the crane dropped it from 2 meters height, so it sank in...
of course your right ely
i would love to see your work on the slk bumper...are you planing to post it here?

Mercedes sls
Having seen cheddas nice citroen c6 images my finger tickled to render my favorite car. I found a very nice model here http://animium.com/2011/03/mercedes-benz-sls-amg-3d-model/
actually the model is a 3ds max file, so you have to convert it to use it in sketchup.
so here's my maxwell render

RE: Thea Presto Edition 1.2
meeeeh!...why did i buy maxwell for almost 1000 Euro...if i only knew
also i have a geforce gtx 670..
-
RE: House Render any suggestions?
I would straighten the verticals in your render, then it would be just fine in my opinion...
-
RE: Playing with my "Thing"
incredible work! do work in real scale or do you scale it up, as sketchup is having some trouble sometimes with small items?
-
RE: Car renders,WIPs&videos
very nice model!
you said the client? i'm wondering what the business here is? do you model it for the client to show how he can customise his car?
-
RE: Images in Maxwell's webpage gallery
i already saw this as maxwell posted it on their facebook account..i was like "wait i know this!! "
gratulations mate, you deserve it!

RE: Outdoor Kitchen
that looks like a fun place to be
my critic would be that there are too many different materials which not all fit together...you have the brick wall on the house, the natural stone wall at the counter, you have two different pavings. all together it looks too turbulent materialwise in my opinion -
RE: Flat interior - C&C welcomed!
looks pretty good...the kitchen parts definitely need some detailing. bevelling those edges could be a good start.

very nice keyboard model...the top edges of the keys though could use just a little bit of bevelling for the bit of extra realism in my opinion
apple? bevels? nonsense..
they don't mind producing completely hard edged aluminum things either..oh it's apple? then the edges should look more like this
(sorry Rich for stealing this from your thread)

RE: [WIP] turfstone pavers
very nice Victor! did you use the SSS-grass material for this one?
-
RE: Pickup
i already didn't like you for making me feel bad about my modelling skills...now i even like you less for killing that poor hedgehog!!
