    • My WC attempt

Needed to do a series of sketchy images for a development meeting for one of our sales guys. Had to be very generic example of a potential medical campus. Used Tom's WC trees among others, and an edited black WC style from this site. Thanks everyone for sharing. For 4 hours work I was pleased with the results - but I would probably try the reflective water trick the next time along with some other changes.

I would be interested in some constructive feedback! โ˜€

      Scott,

Nice clean work - I actually like the no-color approach. And I say YES we can expect more from our clients......... as long as you realize you will rarely get it! ๐Ÿ˜ž

      Wanat,

More amazing work ....... why am I not surprised. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I would love to be able to see the detail a little clearer - maybe if you slightly alter the tone of a couple of the red materials on the different surfaces it would stand out more. I also would like more info on what this represents!

    • RE: Things that really piss you off

To iGOR - my appologies..... my teenager comments were stereotypical. Now that I think about it - they apply to as many 20 somethings as they do teenagers. ๐Ÿ˜„

Another thing that really pisses me off - the architects / developers / builders that create those huge monstrosity "contemporary" homes that all share the same flawed design features - you know which ones I'm talking about.

1- Fake paladian round top window
2- The 2 story "no detail - out of scale" columns that support a small dormer that covers only the entry.
3- The 10 useless windows added to try and make the attached 6 car garage look like a wing of the house
4- The excessively high roof ridge lines that I swear do nothing but add to roof shingle and wood truss sales quotas
5- The use of 5 different (and often non-complimentary) front facade materials
6- And my favorite one of all - the rediculous use of 6-8 fake dormers (1' or 2' deep)that create roofline upon roofline on the front of the house. ๐Ÿ˜’

      pbozarth,

I like the version with lines more. The people in the foreground help - but loose the guy with the dog dootie bag and his companion - bad perspective ๐Ÿ˜ฒ makes them distracting to the image.

Markus - way cool job!! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Will the work you are doing eventually be shared on the main Martela site? I have a library of sketchup files I created from converting the gdl library to 3ds and importing, but some of the models are not very efficient. I am curious about your work for interior designers - are you allowed to expand a little on what you do? I am a designer by education, but gave up the everyday practice about 5 years ago to work more with computers.

      Thanks for sharing!

I think it was Remus who touched on the subject of teenagers a while back. My favorite "things that piss me off" pertain to that catagory, even though I have 4 of them in my house right now โ— Mine are not permited to do any of these of course.

The underwear showing with pants way too big and hanging to the mid upper thigh - I only want to see exposed underwear on Victoria's Secret models......

The complete lack of manners / etiquite (sp?) in public situations. I don't care to listen to their loud cell phone conversations with their best friend about whatever trivial thing happened to the friend at the mall earlier today - and what social consequences it might have on society.

The complete lack of please / thank you / excuse me in their vocabularies.

      I could go on forever.................but I won't. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here is my entry - 1 in a series of 8 exterior and 2 interior shots for this project. All modeled in sketchup...rendered in Kerkythea. Of ccourse there are plenty of things I would like to fix, but the client was happy with the results! ๐Ÿ‘

    • RE: Obsessive or Laid Back?

      I think I am Both. ๐Ÿ˜•

The first one sort of goes with the territory, and the second one comes with experience. I must admit that sometimes I get carried away cleaning up messes. Some of the Architects I work with hesitate to have me model something for them because they know I will find everywhere their drawings aren't coordinated. I hate getting partial models to work from any more - I only want to receive clean 2d (coordinated) autocad files to work from, or better yet hand sketches. ๐Ÿ˜†

    • RE: What affect does Graphics card have on animation?

      Brodie,

While the graphics issues you are having can be improved with a relatively inexpensive (<$200)nvidia card /w 256 mb memory - it will not help your animation. Your processor is decent, but not great in terms of horsepower. Currently, Sketchup does not take advantage of multi-core processors. But - if you decide to upgrade the cpu, a dual or quad could possibly allow for you to do some other tasks on your pc while saving out an animation. If you choose to use a rendering plugin to render your animation - most are capabe of using multi-cores to get the job done quicker. Plus - if and when SU is able to take advantage of mulitple cores, you will be prepared!

    • RE: 1st render in KT

      Edson,

Your start is looking good. I was following the thread over at the Kerky forum, and it is good to see the benefits of your persistence. All I can suggest is - keep working at it. Like any rendering app it takes a lot of experimenting and trial and error till one day you hit a point and it all seems to become clear and make sense. I did not get the hang (and dome may argue I still don't have it) of the material editor until after playing with Echo for a while. Now - it makes perfect sense to me! ๐Ÿค“
