    • RE: Terrain from contours - improve on native 'from contours'?

Fredo, I wish I had something more helpful to say than 'looks great', but that maybe is a good thing. Perhaps the other fellows will stop back by, they seem to have much more experience than I have. As far as interest in and good use for such a plugin, I would say most definitely.

Are the topmost contours supposed to be rounded in their inside or just left as a plateau?

To me they are no different from any of the others. Your results to me look fantastic.

You mention the rectilinear closure of the contours, which was done manually by me to make level faces and which I gather is actually unnecessary and even counter-productive.

      Thanks for that.

#5 draw the sheet with circle tool set to 4 segments ( if you want a square sheet )

Perhaps that method it is more accurate than 'extrude edges by rails' even if a little slower.

It depends on the edge selection you choose (follow or curve) and also you need to click in the empty space to force the separation of the 2 contours since they are contiguous.

OK, I thought I had tried that. I will now for sure. Thank you. For me a work around is to make it in two moves with 'skinning'. Pic shows the desired and thusly achieved results.

I got the profiles distinguished as you said, but have had no success with the sweep, no matter the settings. But it is a complex tool and I do not have a solid grasp of the variables, to say the least. Merci, Fredo.

I guess there is no way as even if the two arcs are perpendicular to each other it treats them as one.

The pic shows two arc profiles desired to be swept along an arc path in red. Though the two profiles are separate curves, 'loft along path' makes them one when picked. One should be a beginning transitioning to the other as an ending.

Perhaps I was joking, perhaps not, but what have I got to lose. I'm gettin' out my pen and paper right now.

      Something smells fishy around here.

Seems to me if your backups are out of your control then they are not yours. Redundancy is very useful on occasions such as these. Perhaps you see it otherwise.

One 'solution' that ignores your question is to have good backup all of the time so you have multiple options for recovery, etc.. Otherwise, you verified that the color was not internal to the component as it sounds it could have been, so that the component itself could have shown a default color and yet appeared otherwise because it had internal color?

But is the model out of scale by a factor approaching 10? If the quick solution also fixes the accuracy then by that method you win and win again.

    • RE: CUBE - Storage concept

Simplicity. There is, of course, some duplication of structure and material inherent in a modular system like this but the flexibility warrants it, I think. Here we have just a few pieces, the only essential one being the 16x16x16" cube, a 'no-waste' dimension based on US plywood size of 48x96". Base and top are optional, attachment blocks are made into a visual contributor (?). Inside face countersinks not shown!

    • RE: Multiple faces are all ONE face?

So far it does look like the larger face should be divided up into smaller ones, as you suspect. This is a sometimes frustration of SU for which there are plugins and workarounds: project onto face, create face, etc. Do a search for these. Create face would make them for selected edges. The face selected is the 'only' problem for you? plan prob-2.JPG

A simple intersect with selection yields some fixing, as was suggested. In fact, I think it solved most of your problem.plan prob-3.JPG

    • RE: Need a 3d professional critic

I think you don't really want a 3d critic, you want a render critic. I am neither that but will for a moment wear the hat.

Looks pretty good. For my tastes, a little soft, diffuse. Two doors cracked: somewhat distracting. No windows, no natural light, no air, no plants. Maybe that's the reality. The door hardware is out-sized. Maybe one large painting instead of 3 of similar; there's reps in the book shelves.
