RE: New to the forum - Introduction
Thank you for the warm reception.
I'm glad to see Susan, Jean and Coen as I have worked with all of you in the past.
The picture is a cross of Napoleon Dynamite, me and The Fonz. I don't take myself or things to serious.
Thanks again.

New to the forum - Introduction
Hi All,
Some of you may already know who I am. I've been with @Last Software/Google for almost three years. I'm a QA Engineer working on SketchUp. I used to post pretty regularly on the old SketchUp Pro Forum and heavily on the Beta Forum. The Beta Forum is my main focus along with testing SketchUp and Ruby API.
I know Craig has been very active on this forum and he has served as a great ambassador for all of us during the transfer off the SketchUp Pro Forum. He has done a great job in this role! I hope I'll be able to serve you as well as he did albeit I might not be as active as he is.
Please allow me time to get to know you all as you get to know me.
I look forward to getting to know you and helping you. Please feel free to email me at bradaskins AT gmail.com
Thank you.

RE: Changing exist text colors
Hey lapx and TIG,
My model has a lot of text in it. So I opened the Model Info dialog box > text > Select all Leader text (button), then clicked on the paint chip selected a new color and clicked on Update Selected Text. That changed the color of the text in my model. Is that what you say is not working?
Please let me know.
Thank you.

RE: Erase! gives an error: can't find parent
Thanks for jumping in Rick.
That is a great suggestion about adding them to an array and cycling through the array indexes.

RE: Erase! gives an error: can't find parent
Hi Clark,
I have seen similar error messages like this before.
Try this:
- Start a new model
- Drag in a component from the component broswer
- Bring up the Ruby Console
- Type in: Sketchup.active_model.definitions[0].erase! > Enter
Is this the same error message you are getting?
Please let me know.
Thank you.

RE: Is this possible? [code] batch export
Hey Rob,
I just continued where Jim and Rick left off.
Put the contents of what is in the attached .zip into you plugins directory and restart SketchUp.
You'll see your icon that you made. Open a model click on the tool bar icon. The model will be exported to c:\ with the models name i.e. whatever the name says in the Title bar. I also gave the icon a tool tip and the status bar text.
Let me know if that works. This is a first draft and I'm sure it could be better.
BTW the defect Todd was talking about "not suppressing the results dialog after dwg export" is fixed and will be in the next version of SketchUp.
Hope this helps, I hope it doesn't suck....it good to breath clean air

RE: Import keyboard shortcuts problem
Hi All,
Another work around is to export the shortcuts to a file named something like 'shortcuts.dat' and then import that file instead of the preferences.dat.
Hope that helps.

RE: 911 SU 6.4.120 Mac OSX 10.4.11 Intel Where's the DXF/DWG
Hey Anssi,
I thought that too but he said,
@unknownuser said:I was looking forward to the added export options in the new version. However to my dismay, there is now no DWG or DXF export of any kind. There are all kinds of other nifty export formats but DXF and DWG are missing from both 2D export and 3D export. Nothing.
In the Free version he would only have KMZ, SKP and JPEG, but that is a good question. Thanks for asking.
Lets see what he says.

RE: 911 SU 6.4.120 Mac OSX 10.4.11 Intel Where's the DXF/DWG
Hey Karl,
We think there might have been a problem with a few of the downloads. Could you please re-download the build and try to install it again?
Remove all things SketchUp 6 before you try to reinstall.
Please let me know what happens.
Thank you.

RE: So what's in 6.4.112?
Silence is gold if people understand what your messages is, otherwise silence is confusing.

I have many objections about working (google su team) smarter (at least). And please don't use @Last name any more.
I don't know what this means either.
Please tell us what you mean.
Thank you.

RE: So what's in 6.4.112?
Paul,
101313 is our internal build number from our build machine. 6.4.112 is the Sketchup.exe version number. They are one in the same. Have you been able to uninstall and/or reinstall SketchUp to get it working? What part of the install process did the crash happen? Did you install over the existing installed SketchUp or did you uninstall and do a clean install of M4?
Gidon, M4 only contains changes to support the importing and exporting of ACAD DWG 2007. We made one Ruby change to support DWG exporting and we did some localization changes. That's it. No new features, no other code changed. Hope that helps.

RE: So what's in 6.4.112?
Hey Everyone,
You think you're upset you should see it from our side. This is an unintentional error, we never in a million years would force you to upgrade. This product is yours not our, upgrade or don't upgrade that is your choice.
It was a process error that is the long and short of it. I'd be upset too if I was forced to upgrade software I used on a daily bases. When I get the FireFox update notices it's my choice not theirs. It is merely a suggestion on their behalf just like it is with us.
So here's the deal; this page, http://sketchup.google.com/gsu6/download.html leading to this page http://sketchup.google.com/gsu6/relnotes.html after clicking on the release notes link is wrong. Shame on us. The information on these pages are correct: Win= http://docs.google.com/View?docid=ajg9d7mmp8rt_4gp925h and Mac= http://docs.google.com/View?docid=ajg9d7mmp8rt_5dfz7c6
I'm sorry for your pain and suffering you have endured over the last day. Please know we meant no disservice or disrespect. I was merely a mistake on our behalf.
The good news is the problem has been fixed. So upgrade or don't upgrade that's up to you. M4 is geared towards supporting Leopard and AutoCAD DWG 2007 import/export.
If I had a magic time eraser I'd use it now and erase time back to at least the middle of last week to make sure this problem didn't happen. Rest assure we will work on trying to guarantee this never happens again.
If you have further comments about this please post them and voice your opinion.
Remember I make my living from SketchUp too.

RE: Text text text!
@unknownuser said:
Lets not get side-tracked here or make this more complicated than necessary . . . . there's absolutely nothing wrong with the basic 'vector' text in Sketchup . . . I just wish it had the same options as the dimension text already has. Specifically, the option to have it aligned/glued to a surface and not to always 'float about' aligned to the viewport.
I like the idea so much I logged a feature request.
Hope that helps.

Tutorials for future use
Hey Everyone,
After seeing Eric's nice tutorial for adding grooves to a tube it reminded me to something I do which I hope will help others.
When I see tutorial like this, I think "...I don't need that now, but in the future I might..." So I put the model in my SelfPaceTutorials directory and restart SketchUp. Then I have the Tutorial under my Help menu for future use.
Hope that helps somebody.

RE: Follow Me Funkyness
Hey Fred,
The next time you come across this, will you please post the model so I could take a look at it?
Thank you.

RE: A question for the wood workers.
I would think you'd need a food grade polyurethane, however I think a better place to ask this question would be here; http://www.woodnet.net/forums/
Since I'm a wood worker I read and write post on woodnet. It's a great place.
Hope that helps.
