That's great. Thanks a lot. The way you described was what I tried to do but didnt think to put it in wireframe! Would have taken ages to pick up all the edges without the faces.
It's done the trick to the images, thanks very much.

Hi there,
Just a quick question - is there a way to make the edge style thinner than the default? I'm placing a lot of plants very close together and the overall all view ends up looking very black.
Cheers
Hi all,
Is there a way to remove a central part of a terrain leaving a gap? In CAD, hatching is done with 'islands' so was wondering if there is an equivalent in SU.
Cheers
Thanks folks. Managed it with instancing in the end, though struggled to make the first pebble.
Hi,
I need to create gravel for a scene I'm almost finished with, just showing a bench with an arbour and surrounding plants.
I've tried to simply use a gravel texture and render in KT with bump mapping but because I the camera position needs to be reasonably close up it looks very unrealistic and flat. I'm thinking i'll need to create the gravel from scratch in 3d and then use instancing?
Are there any other ways?
Any help greatly appreciate!
Been away for the past few days... just wanted to say thanks for the help and tutorial. V much appreciated
Thats fantastic. Thanks!
One thing I don't understand....Vector push/pull? I've never used that before. Done a search for it but can't seem to find anything that I can follow!
Thanks fellas, appreciate the speedy replies.
Went for bob's method, though I need to practice it. Not sure i'm fully understanding the way you did it!
Thanks for the reply....
Thats not quite what I'm after. The same trellis (mesh bit) that is at the back needs to continue around the sides following that curve so it should have that mesh around 3 sides (2 are curved)....I think its more difficult than I first thought.
Hi,
I'm having a bit of trouble with a lutyens bench and arbour I'm making. The problem is the trellis, I need to continue the trellis around the curved sides. Any ideas how I could do this? I've attached the file...
Thanks for the quick reply!
I just checked the CAD drawing that it came from and some of the lines are elevated by 0.00001......excellent. (I didn't draw it by the way ) so I've gone for the sandbox option using the edge lines as contours. Seems to do the trick well enough. Think it would have taken forever and a day to go through and reposition each line that's out.
It's all to real life scale, and since reading up on this forum, all the faces on are correctly orientated - though i think i may have to sort out the architects model.
Thanks a lot for your input, i'll hopefully upload the finished piece after some KT editing. Fingers crossed, its my first real attempt at SU and KT!
Hi,
I've been hunting around to try and find an answer to this but the only thing i found was a video tutorial that didnt quite apply to my model, apoligies if I've missed the blindingly obvious.
I'm modeling a hospital courtyard (landscape to be added later in KT) but i can't get certain areas to become faces. Is this something to do with planes? How can i find out which edges are the culprits that need to be sorted? I've gone over all edges in the hope that they will connect and create the face but had no joy with that.
I hope from the attached image you can see the areas that wont become faces (yet others will)
Any help greatly appreciated
Cheers
That did the job! Thanks so much for that. Just got to find the time to put the guide points into SU and it should be sorted.
Cheers again
Nice model, especially a 7 hourer!!
Could you give me an idea of what spec pc/mac you use to make this. I'm battling along on quite a good pc but it just doesnt cut it for large scale landscapes that i need to create.
Cheers
Not been able to check on this for a while....
I've had a look at the drawing full of spot heights that I have and they are all at the correct z value....however, it is just text, not crosses etc.
Is there a quick way to create these crosses where the text is? I had a look at that autolisp, it looks mind boggling!
Have you had any joy? I'm in exactly the same boat. A number of spot heights (not quite 1300 though!) all in 2d, trying to create an accurate terrain in sketchup
