Also, it doesnt work with VRay tools 😞

one thing I like about VRay tools is that I can open Skup with VRay disabled, and turn it on only when I want to render

It's changed now, that you honestly don't need vray tools any more. Vray doesn't mess with the model until you open the asset manager, render, or add vray objects.

    • RE: 2017 is here

Guess I'll just have to try it out myself! Honestly, I still haven't fully transitioned to 2016 from 2015. Now I'm curious what this engine improvement is all about. πŸ€“

    • RE: VRay 3: Understanding the sun

I think the question has more to do with the modeling software. In Max - the sun is just another lamp in the model that you can manipulate. In Sketchup - the sun is not present in the model, and the only way to adjust is are by the "shadows" settings.

might want to think about your view composition.

It must be applied to a group.

meaning the gravel material has to a be grouped by itself so there is only one material in the group - more info here: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=322%26amp;t=28593

    • RE: Reinstalling SU 2015

It shouldn't, they don't share anything that would screw up the other. I uninstalled 2015 without any issues to 2016.

I believe you need to uninstall Pro and get the separate installer for Make.

    • RE: Reinstalling SU 2015

I ran something similar recently. After some computer hardware changes, I tried to reinstall 2015. after contacting support, I found out Trimble does not allow you to run 2015 pro alongside 2016 pro. Seems it must be the case for all licenses.

wow, very cool! Will the contours be closer together (relative to the shapes) in the full version? The contours are a bit distracting imo in the block head.

I'd wager that bit of advice was derived from painful personal experience... I have certainly felt the sting of lost and corrupt files in years past.

    • RE: Vray is loosing links to some texture files

You can re-link the texture either in the SU material editor or the vray one, either will work. The specific path will depend on where the texture file was originally.

Why have the refraction layer at all?

For many render engines - "architectural glass" or "thin glass" gives you the same look when at the scale of a building, there is effectively no refraction. It's such a small volume of glass that it doesn't matter if you have refraction calculated or not.

Perhaps except my glass is a full solid of 1" thickness...

That's why I asked if the faces are oriented correctly... It will also give you incorrect refraction if both normals are facing the same way. You have to have both backfaces facing towards the inside of the glass pane.
