Sounds very familiar. I have a cousin who doesn't drive. When she comes to visit, she brings her cat with her by train...about 250 miles. It's a major operation getting ours a mile down the road to the vet. They spread out like Garfield so they won't fit into the cat box.

HOW TO GIVE A CAT A PILL
-
Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.
-
Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.
-
Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.
-
Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right fore-finger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.
-
Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse in from garden.
-
Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.
-
Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.
-
Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down the straw.

Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus jab. Throw Tee-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

RE: Looks like Google doesn't need SketchUp anymore...
That's British irony, Walter. The most likely thing would be that they would canibalise it for parts...to make a napkin-sketch Plugin for ACAD...then just ditch the remaining dried husk altogether. After all, you can't have people designing stuff on a free or $500 piece of software when they could be using ACAD.

RE: Looks like Google doesn't need SketchUp anymore...
Maybe they'll sell it on to AutoDesk.

Regarding personell; There have been a few changes in management and the public interface side, but I'd be very surprised if the majority of developers weren't still there....doing what they've always done. Quite a few of the people in San Antonio the other week were the same people that were in Boulder, at Base Camp, when it was still @Last.

RE: Three Hundred
Well, didn't quite make it yesterday, but it's certainly on the cards for today.

Make mine a Margarita
Ha Ha! First in the pool...and I've put my towel on the best lounger in the place...the one under the palm that gives dappled shade all day long, right next to the bar. Now to put in a few lengths and work off that Danish I've just had for breakfast.

RE: Barbique in the Pool
I've had BBQs that ended up as wet as that. But Hey! this is Britain....what can I say?

RE: Attachements removed from Sketchup Forums
I know Ross. I checked those terms myself some months ago...not that they are at all relevant, because the models in question never came from the Warehouse...we don't do that....and we can prove it. I don't know how many times I've made that clear. I PMed you.

RE: Attachements removed from Sketchup Forums
I see that the latest announcement states that although the membership of the new forum will be limited, non-members...aka the rest of the planet...will not only be able to browse the posts (fair enough) but also help themselves to any attachments, be they skps, scripts or whatever. I know that is possible at the moment, but at least the old @Last forums are something of a backwater...not so the Google site. Maybe there was merit in pulling content after all.
BTW. I just resigned as moderator over there. I can't go into details because of legal implications, but it would seem that Google is claiming ownership of all content on the 3D Warehouse, whether it's Google-modelled or not. It would seem that you can't even model something entirely original that even LOOKS like something on the Warehouse without incurring their wrath. I just deleted all the FF freebies. I'll be compiling a list tomorrow of all models on the Warehouse (there are many) that use FF models as a base and asking for their immediate removal on grounds of copyright infringement.

It's here folks...in the other place...attachment to the opening post of the thread.

Some Pro User Forums members stats
Numbers don't mean much, Coen. I don't think you'd want...nor should you try....or even plan on accomodating all that "dead wood". There may still be under 200 people here (last time I checked), but I'd be prepared to bet that if you ignore all the "How do You draw a sphere?" or "Looking for 3D people." type posts, this little group is probably responsible for about 70% of the postings. In fact, over the last 24 hours, I'd say there have been far more postings here than over there...spammers excepted.

RE: Most used scripts.
The version I showed was downloaded from the Ruby forum....MENUS.rb I've put a copy in the Depository.

RE: Most used scripts.
I use many of the ones already mentioned...especially Make Faces. One I don't think anyone has mentioned so far is Menu...based on Didier's menu loader. There may be something better by now, but I find it invaluable for keeping everything neat and tidy.

RE: Poll: Mac vs PC
I've always used a PC...been using them since I got my first one around 1990. I'm another one that can't see what all the fuss is about. In all that time I've had 2 viruses sneak past Norton...both a little annoying, but dealt with in an hour or two. SU occasionally bugsplats (like once every few months...and I am a beta tester, so it does get thrown around), but I honestly can't remember the last time I had anything like a system crash.
If something works for you and does everything you ask it to, there's not much point in trying the alternative. Macs may be prettier, but they're not as flexible regarding parts, or as economical in terms of bang for buck.
As their devotees are constantly reminding us "They just work." Well, so does my PC...and I've been using a vast array of graphics-intensive stuff on it and its predecessors for nearly two decades. The machine I'm writing at now gets turned on about 7.00 am and doesn't get turned off again until maybe 11.00 pm, pretty much 7 days a week. The amount of downtime I've experienced on it is negligible. -
RE: WACOM tablet in sketchup
I tend to have a fairly clear demarcation....tablet for raster, mouse for vector. Try as I might, I've never been able to keep a pen completely motionless when right-clicking or entering parameters and such. I might occasionally use the tablet for the freeform tool, but other than that, I miss the scroll wheel too much to part with the mouse. The idea of using a pen in one hand and a Space Navigator in the other sounds a bit like trying to fly a chopper or pat your head while rubbing your stomach.
-
RE: 3Dconnection Space Navigator PE cheap
It might be useful. I tried it one-handed, just using my right hand...and it will enable you to fluently pan and orbit. Obviously, you have to let go of the mouse to do this. Whether or not this is actually more convenient than simply mouse-clicking the orbit or pan icons, would be a little difficult to say.

RE: 3Dconnection Space Navigator PE cheap
I have a Space Navigator. Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty intuitive and you can fly around both 3D space and 2D images (it replaces the Windows picture and fax viewer with its own version). The only trouble is that to use it properly you need you left hand pretty much permanently glued to it. This raises obvious conflicts with the fact that normally in SU you have your left hand almost permanently poised over the Shift and Ctrl keys.
