Ok TIG, I'll try to work like that.
Thanks

RE: Joint Push Pull Classic (Old version) - v2.2a - 26 Apr 17
Hello,
I discovered and tried your tool with the last Catchup edition 15 to create the Hans Wegner chair.
Following this tutorial, I discovered that 2 of the 3 extrusion possibilities cause problems; the J and N where the result pulled face creates unclosed faces. The problem doesnt occur when we use the V tool.
The attachments illustrate the problem.

Dynamic textures
Hi,
According to the Scketchup's doc, it's possible to prepare various textures on template surfaces, then implement a list of available textures in the DC.
Ok, that globally works but the texture is stretched on the face, according on its size, which is not a good behavior. Is there a way to get result not depending on the face's size?

RE: Dynamic Components - Door Frame
Hi Camncam,
Maybe you can have a look a this one, I think I got a quite nice door.

Rotate material
Hi,
Is there a function to rotate a material in a dynamic component? -
General Sketchup performances
Hello,
Is there any tool to test sketchup permformances because I feel it really slow when I copy quite big component whereas I don't see CPU, GPU or disk working during that time.
I really wonder what Sketchup, Windows or my laptop is doing!!!!
Regards.

What does he do????
Hello,
I'm exporting a video which is supposed to take again 1h21mn but when I'm looking at cpu occupation and disk transfer, I notice that my M6500 workstation doesn't do anything in fact as you cans see on the joined performance chart.
What's does Sketchup do? executing delay() system function????
Any idea?

RE: DC: A nightmare!!!
That's strange because mine works well. I suppose I didn't upload the right one. Don't know, so the joined one works well, I verified "H Porte" as you said and other parameters.
And in fact, according to my tests, changing origin can make the things not working if you change origin after having writen the formulas but if you do it before, there is no problem.
All positions or rotations modifications are done relatively to the origin so, it's position shouldn't be important.

RE: DC: A nightmare!!!
Hi Federico,
The origin's position is needed by the animated interaction.
When I interact with "Ouvrant", the door rotates around its hinges so, this action only works if the Z axis is aligned along the hinges.Anyway, I don't see the relationship with color and position of the origin.
In my posts, I don't say that the door doesn't work, it usually works, except after I change a sub-component's color. In that terms, what's the problem with the origin?

RE: DC: A nightmare!!!
Hi Jim,
In fact I discovered that savinf and reloading the model seems to solve the problem!
Anyway, if you use the "Porte interieure dynamique.skp model", you can, normally, easily reproduce the problem.
For information, I also try by removing all plugins to verify that one of them doesn't interact.
So once the model is loaded, if you change for example the "Lg Porte" parameter you will see that the width of frame change as you expect.
For example, I start from the original model:
I apply a new material to some elements of the frame:
I change the "Lg Porte" parameter:
And one of the elements is detached from the frame. This can be this one or any other, sometimes only one dimension is changed...
Can you reproduce the problem?

RE: DC: A nightmare!!!
I tried to switch al sub-groups into components as I saw that many examples only use components but it doesn't help.
Groups work as much as or as badly as components!Joined model is all made of components. Just few groups of no dynamic elements. I hope it doesn't cause my problems.
This door works well but 2 colors on the frame are not well named and use default name colors.
I try to create new materials for them using dedicate names and then, changing parameter values breaks the model !!??!!I joined the original model, which works and the one where I changed a color and which doesn't work.
Incredible.
Please help!
This one works correctly, verify by changing "lgPorte" to 73,83,93 for example

RE: DC: A nightmare!!!
@Arkad-UK: Well you may be right but I already saw quite complex DC running well so, I think the feature is maybe not really easy to use or well documented and may suffer of some bugs. Anyway, it seems useable with some knowledge I don't actually have.

RE: Rotate Turret and Canon
Hello,
I think that SketchyPhysics is really much designed to do that.
Have a look at my model (http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=d307649663ad9dd982b31e1c15ea174c&prevstart=0), to see how it works.

DC: A nightmare!!!
Hello,
I almost succesfully made a dynamic door but there's always something crazy without any apparent reason, mostly a group with its scale changed!!
Could a DC's guru have a look to the joined model to try to find what's wrong?

RE: Finally finished my Lynx crane, with some headaches
Ok, I'll take a look at it.
From my experience and about calculation time, some minor changes in the model could cause the simulation to lag a lot. I have no idea about what happens in such cases.
Normally, the model I shared runs smoothly on my I7 Q840. Are there some external reasons, other plugins I don't know, which could cause problem......

RE: SketchyPhysics3.2 (Dec 2)
Hi Ashscott
I didn't really take time to verify but I diectly entered the script like that in the "scripted" field. I think it's the problem because no method is known.
In the "On Tick" field, no problem.
I think a method, like onTick{ ...} for example, should be created.

Finally finished my Lynx crane, with some headaches
I finally finished my crane.
It's on the 3D warehouse. I have a bit less hair on the head now!
2 days to just understand how a wheel can work and I realized it's better to create a wheel from the Sketchyphysic wheel object, even if you replace original geometry by your, to prevent headaches.
I also realized that joint connections and behavior depends on parts size. I was unable to realize the steering, my wheels were falling down only because I created too little parts to connect my servos to.Anyway, SchetchyPhysics has quite a lot of impredictable crashes in conditions where usually, it works fine. I think it would be nice that somebody take back the development in account to investigate on some points.
UI is also a bit strange as I finally took the habit to copy the text I wrote to eventually paste it few times in the script fields as it often desappear without any clear reason.
Sometimes the UI doesn't display anything about a selected object, it's necessary to exit and restart sketchup.
I also wonder how magnet really interact with the environment. I use it to mimic the hook of my crane and everytime I attract a magnetic object I want to hook, the position of the hook strangely changes as it be attracted by - something -. Nothing magnetic around anyway!
In fact if you test 2 objects, one magnetic and one with the magnet feature, you can see the magnet attract the magnetic, normal, but together continue to strangely go away !??! I think it's what cause the strange behavior I get with my hook. I really don't understand what is behind this.Regards,
Alain. -
RE: SketchyPhysics3.2 (Dec 2)
Hi Ashscott,
Thanks for your answer.I tried your script and one I wrote and in any case I get the following error when I start the simulation:
Error starting the simulation: Error in Script:
...
undefined method'<' for nil:NilClass
C:/Program......../ControllerCommands.rb:1314:in 'initEvents'
It something is not correctly initialized. Is there something to import at the beginning of the script or something like that?
Any idea?
Is there any wiki on the basics of keyboard control? The only one I know is http://sketchyphysics.wikia.com/wiki/Ruby.
