Thanks so much for the information. I need to lean how to use the layers better. In Sketchup I use them all the time but in layout need to learn.

Selecting small objects in rear
Is there a way that I can select a small object or graphic behind text in Sketchup Layout? I have things that I want to display behind text but cannot select or easily move it because it is behind the text. Thanks so much.

3D scanned images for sketchup
Hello friends at Sketchucation,
I am trying to scan some objects in 3D and then import them into Sketchup, using Cube's 3D Sense Scanner. I would like to keep the color of the 3D scan. I can export to STL PLY and OBJ . At this point I tried to import STL and it did not work the file size was 10 MB or so. I also tried a OBJ plugin and it started importing but also failed. Any advice. Thanks so much in advance.

Jim,
Thanks so much that worked! I just did not know "STereo Lithography was STL and did not look close enough.

Importing STL into Sketchup
Hello Friends at Sketchucation,
I am trying to import STL files into Sketchup but Sketchup's plugin that is supposed to provide both exporting and importing STL files only has a export STL option. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Intersecting lines with faces
Hello Friends at Sketchucation,
Thanks so much for your help with my last question! Another question; I often have a very difficult time intersecting lines with a face that they are supposed to be in contact with. If the lines do not intersect you cannot cut it out or pull the shape off of the face. It gets very frustrating with Sketchup when things do not intersect. Is there a plug-in that would automatically place lines on the face if for some reason they happen to be slightly off of the face. The plug-in would check for all lines within so close to a face and automatically move them to the face. Hopefully they then would intersect with the face. Or is there anything that would help with the intersecting problem?
Thanks in advance.

RE: Sketchup Vertex Tool
@thomthom said:
Hm... when you say fall to ground, do you actually want all the vertices to hit the ground - or just make the object drop?
Just thinking if Raytracer is what you want: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30509The best would be if all the lines in the model having any horizontal distance would make a line on the flattened model which would be equal to it's horizontal extents and position in the model. The vertical length of lines would be meaningless in the planar model resulting. A vertical line would not show at all, or simply be an endpoint in the plane model.
Thus you could take the resulting plane model and draw vertical lines upward from ever vertex or point in the flat model to it's corresponding place in the 3D model. Sketchup a while back said they had nothing to do this with. But it appears you possibly have numerous solutions! Thanks so much for your replies.

Sketchup Vertex Tool
**Hello Sketchup Friends,
Regarding the Vertex Tool "make planar" tool, is their anyway possible to make the 3D object fall straight down onto the level plane the bottom of the object is resting on. In my testing when the 3D object becomes planar, the plane it becomes is on a strange angle relating to the shape of the object, rather than the 3D collapsing straight down and falling onto the plain it was resting on.
Thanks so much in advance. Your kind help will will help with my project at http://www.LiftUpThePoor.net.
