      Hi TIG !!

Thnks so much for the pointer dear TIG. I unloaded Chuck Vali's Instant Architecture but that did not solve the issue. Also, please pardon my limited knowledge, but could you please guide me how (and where) to check the Version / Version Set of any extension.... Is it where it says "Unsigned" ? I am attaching a screenshot of my SU2018 Pro Extension Manager screen below.

      Thanks !

By the way, the load error only started AFTER I updated LibFredo6 to the latest version !! I don't know if that piece of information helps !!

There was absolutely no problem before the LibFredo6 updation...

The > on the right end of the extension details, if you click it it expands the entry and shows the Version, or in the case of Instant Architecture == nothing !
The 'unsigned' message appears if an extension hasn't been processed by Trimble/SketchUp, if the extensions is older it's probably not been updated in the last few years, that's OK if it's from a trusted source and your Extension Manager's > Loading Policy is set to Unrestricted, otherwise it's loading is blocked.

I'm preparing an update to the SketchUcation tools to robustly trap for this kind of unexpected problem from poorly structure code by others...

Thank you so much dear TIG... couldn't imagine what the Sketchup world would've been without guys like you, Fredo, Rich and others, whose incredible plugins have lighted up the core SU program. Thanks a ton for the immense service you're doing to the community!

Will await the sketchucation tools update !

                This has been reported before.
It's probably because you have one of Chuck Vali's extensions loading.
He omitted giving it a Version [check in your Extension Manager for that omission...],.
This means that when we try to find its version so we look for updates it trips us up with a fault.
Our v5.0.3 sidesteps this very problem [amongst others] and should be published very soon...

                  Hi guys,

Can anybody confirm latest - 5.0.2
to be working in SKP 8?
I know - now is 2025 but..thats last free version
and looks SCF has been described somewhere as v.8 compatible ?

                  cheers,

Compatible with v2017 and newer [better].
You can try an older version, but no guarantees...

I have found that SketchUcation Tools 5.0.2 and now 5.0.3 causes SketchUp to go into a not responding spin on my Mac (2019 MBP Pro running macOS 26.0.1, SketchUp 26.0.428). I have to force quit SketchUp to stop the spin and then manually clean up the "headless" process that is left behind (I reported this zombie on force quit issue separately to the SketchUp team, who have not been able to reproduce it so far.).

If I move the SketchUcation Tools rb and folder out of Plugins, SketchUp behaves normally except, as expected, SketchUp says all my licensed extensions have expired trial periods, making them unusable! Lack of Fredo6's tools is killing my workflow!

Usually the spin happens while loading extensions, though it also happened once while I had the Sketchucation Tools window open and once when the Extension Manager window was open to reinstall this extension.

What can I do to help diagnose the cause?

Is SketchUcationTools installed into your default plugins folder? If not, please try to install it there. If it is already installed there, you can try the following:

At your SketchUp default plugins folder, from the SketchUcation folder, copy the SCFLicense folder and SCFLicense.rb file to the root of the plugins folder and erase the SketchUcation folder.and SketchUcation.rb file. Restart SketchUp. Is it starting? Is the licensing working?

Yes, I install all extensions in the default folder.

I did the copies you suggested, and SketchUp still spins on launch.

And if you erease the SCFLicense folder and file as well, then it starts flawless?

                                      So to clarify. Please confirm...
You now have no SketchUcation.rb or SketchUcation subfolder in your Plugins folder having temporarily moved them.
You have temporarily moved the SCFLicense subfolder and SCFLicense.rb [usually in your SketchUcation folder] back into your Plugins folder.
                                      You have restarted SketchUp.
Does the licensing set up load ?
                                      It seems not !
If you add the SketchUcation subfolder and its RB file back into Plugins, AND temporarily remove the SCFLicense.rb and subfolder from the SketchUcation subfolder, AND also remove those you moved into Plugins: after a restart of SketchUp does SketchUcation toolbar/submenu load OK ? If so the issue appears to lie with our licensing set up... [@fredo6 ?]
