Hi marked001, I know what making such a change in engines is quite a bit of work, it is like a loss of motor memory. Generally pretty nice overall. I think you have issues with materials though. It is hard to get the balence right, but that flat black looks WAY too matte. Just about everything reflects, I would give that a shine (Or foughness) as around 50% I normally dial in reflextion of around 50% or just until you can see its effect. Could be wrong but it looks like a bit too much grunge on the garage door, which does not work in this image. If the black matte lamp were made of a metalic material it would really pop. There is also a really obvious HDRI showing behind the 3d folage in the background, perhaps some more 3d folage to hide it would help. I know that is a bit of critism although constructive. But I cop it all the time (Mostly from Rich ๐Ÿ˜‰ But I really appreciate it and that critism has made me a better renderer.

All good points, Liam.. thanks. Definitely still trying to work out the materials. I liked the 'weathering' effect in lumion so I could get away from the finish being totally flat on these painted parts. I'll make some adjustments to that.

Here's my second try on an interior I"m working on.

Hi Mark, that interior is very good and beyond what I have ever acheived in an interior render. I am assuming that is D5 which has very good Global illumination. Nicely done mate ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘

OK, I have a really silly question: when it says live sync, does that ,Ean that everything takes place on your calendar computer/laptop or is this being done on an external device (like an internet device/server)? Yes, this is a silly question that might be answered somewhere on their web site. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Also, I did not see pricing anywhere. Guess I should not be in such a rush when I visit a website.

Are you talking about D5? If so it is free unless you want a great deal of assets. If so you could go for the pro, which is fairly cheap, at about half the price of Twinmotion. And unlike TM you can pay monthly $30 US a month or $360 anually.

About synking it is purely that it is a "Bridge" between whatever modelling program you use and D5. Imagine the oputput code of Revit is completly different output code to say the output code of Sketchup.

So, I takes it that everything happens on the computer where I am using SU.

I am assuming it is offline synking, I cant say for sure. Somebody else can answer that. I base that assumpion on the fact that I thing online synking would take forever so I am pretty sure the file coverion code is done internally.

FYI, I had a play with D5 and thought it was pretty good but I had issues with the way it saved, files (When I saved and tried to open it again It had like 5 files that I did not know which file/files to open, did my head in so I uninstalled it.

Yes, whatever you change in the model is instantly changed in real time in D5. It will also move the camera around in D5 as you move it in SketchUp. Lumion does the same and I'm sure a bunch of others these days.

Definitely way cheaper than most for the pro. Part of the reason I wanted to try switching. Lumion has moved to a subscription model, as well so if I want to upgrade its like $1200/year vs $380ish for D5.

I think the price of lumion is stupid and not sure in the current climate of render engines thos prices cannot be justified. The other problem I have with Lumion is that I have alway thought it does not render very well and just about everything I have seen on lumion I say "That is a lumion render" It looks slightly comic to me.
