Hunslet Cloister Quarry Engine

Interesting train Dave. The plan view is so telling that the development of that unit was very close to the use of static engines as it looks like a static engine on a concrete footing with wheels under it Streamlining was many years away
-
This little engine was designed to be run in quarries hauling stone wagons and on the surface in mines hauling ore wagons. No need for for any sort of streamlining for the application. Just a simple engine without any excess frippery. Fairly inexpensive to build and simple to maintain.
-
Excellent modeling but the name sure is a mouthful
-
I learned a new word today, frippery,
thanks Dave!
-
A properly sharp piece of modeling, nice to see the less exotic machinery get their day in the sun.
-
That's great. We had the more 'modern' version here for hauling moss peat to power stations.
This one was still common enough to see up to the 90s. I always loved the smell of diesel train engines.

I really like these little engines although we don't really have them around here. Steam power is my favorite, too.

Very cool! Great subject and model.

Love the line drawing style.

Great work, Dave. Interesting history and I really like the illustrative renderings.
-
That's really impressive, especially that use of style.
Wouldn't it be great for StyleBuilder to get some attention to turn it into a NPR renderer of sorts?
-
Thank you.
Yes, Rich, it would be nice if Style Builder got some attention. Maybe there's not enough interest in PR renders, though. Seems like most people are trying to make things look as photo-realistic as possible. Of course with AI doing that in a couple of seconds, maybe there will be a shift.
-
Agreed, perhaps it will happen down the line.
-
Bravo!

Artificial intelligence doesn't worry me as much as natural stupidity does.
