Is VERAS coming to SU?
-
Does anyone know if VERAS will be heading our way? It's in Beta over on Revit and it'd be awesome if we got it too.
-
Doesn't its dev live in autodesk addon market?
Does look handsome though.

Interesting

What is Veras ?

An AI image fender generator that is a plugin for Revit. According to their video, it can also be used with SketchUp at sometime in the future.

Wow...impressive. Thanks for sharing this.
Imagine what a few years world-wide development and even more faster hardware will do with this tech;
- Use AI for generating optimal floor plans, elevations and sections for a given program
- easily create design variants
- nice renderings of course
How will the architects role in this change?
Interesting times... -
This AI wave potentially will lead to catastrophic changes for and architectural design and archviz branches; very disturbing..

the AI has determined each human family needs only 800 cubic feet of total living space...

I am optimistic about AI and consider it as Calculator+Guideline. Still quality of space is what humans understand and are able to create. Although soon it could be done by machines and we have to union with them, I guess.

I was thinking about harvesting the AI power using sketchup (also Revit and other packages ..) line stile, without materials as Scribble Diffusion does. Ben, I am wondering if this is in your agenda?

I have mixed feelings about AI. In some ways it is incredible what it can achieve. On the other hand, I have concerns about what it can do to the human mind. Will people rely on it and quit thinking!
I got my introduction to information technology back in the mud 70โs. There was no operating system (like Windows or iOS) so you had to write in โmachine languageโ. We only had 4k of memory and when we stepped up to 16k (yes k not mb) we had meeting to figure out what to do with all that memory. I have had many different jobs in IT over the years (โjack of all trades - master of noneโ). My, how things have changed/progressed!
As I said, AI is really fascinating but can be scary at the same time. I think we need to watch/be careful about how it is used.

@majid It's similar to that idea, in the sense that what is in the base program should be heavily or lightly augmented. We want to give more control on how that happens and where.
@ntxdave This is a common concern with the technology. I personally see it as a tradeoff, akin to how cameras were to artists. A camera takes a fraction of time to produce imagery that would otherwise take months, and few experts. However, with AI this tradeoff is happening faster and more abrupt. Still, humanity has always invented the next leap on how to busy ourselves. Thinkers, innovators and dreamers will be too bored to not make progress, regardless of AI advancements.
