SU 2015 Pro "send to layout is grayed out"
-
I got a new IMac with 10.12.2 Sierra and installed SU Pro 2015 (license activated) and when I went to send a file to LO after I saved it in SU "send to LO was grayed out". I searched the Web for an answer and found this thread on the SU forum
https://forums.sketchup.com/t/send-to-layout-not-working-help-please/16789
Nothing in the thread applied to my circumstance. The app names (SU, LO )were not moved or renamed. I opened the SU file in LO and everything was good and the Document Setup/ Ref was current. But "send to LO out is still grayed out".I'm at a loss.

Hi Walt,
Does SketchUp show that your pro license is activated? Can you open LayOut directly?
-
Yes I can open LO either directly or with an old LO fie.
-
Did you try reinstalling SketchUp? I have vague recollections of someone else having this problem and reinstalling being the solution.
-
I'll do that and get back at you.
-
Good luck.
-
Nope didn't work. Wonder if I need to uninstall first. I read some where to uninstall SU you needed to delete the plist also.
-
Maybe just deleting the plist would work. If it is corrupt, that could cause problems. SketchUp would rewrite the plist next time you start up. We need a Mac guru in here.

Somebody called?
-
It's about time!

Well I'm bewildered (nothing new there) SU dmg reinstalled and asked to replace old and I chose yes. Restarted Mac and opened SU and LO all works fine, even with the file or any other file they don't seem to be linked. Even making changes to SU file doesn't show in Document Setup in LO and they're both open.

So Rich "What say ye"

Only thing that comes to mind is file format.
Are you trying to send a 2017 file to LayOut 2016 or something along those lines.
Or maybe some legacy issue to when LayOut was not suffixed with the year.
I tried it on the Mac we have and can't see a problem.
-
I wouldn't have a clue how to fix it. Sorry.
Maybe your Reseller can help expedite the issue?
-
Must be the second because the first is not the case.
Could it be something with 2017 Make overriding something? Wouldn't think so.

Do you have 2017 Make installed? If so, that would be a problem because LayOut isn't available for Make.
-
He edited his post to say Make is installed.
Try nuking it.
-
Yeah. but these are SU 2015 files being opened in SU 2015 and using LO 2015
-
@ Rich think I'll do that.
-
I think I see what you've got going on. You can't send files from SU2017 to LO2015. You would have to save from SU2017 back to SU2015. You could then send the file from SU2015 to Lo2015.
