What is the Best UV mapping Plugins for Sketchup?
-
Hi, I suggest this one:
http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323%26amp;t=44552#p397448
and, if you want to use an external UV mapper, SketchUV. -
UV mapping is best done externally in a dedicated mapping enviroment.
Blender ha very powerful mapping tools and it is free.
I also recommend Ultimate Unwrap 3D or UV LayOut.

k .Externally!!! sounds a lot of learning...4ffd32sf32d...mind exploding...
what if i just need to uv map a curtain. i can just use any uv plugin to get it done rite? coz i need to have a specific flower pattern curtain for my interior scene.btw, thanks for your answers. i owe you guys alot.

Learning is a good thing.
If you make the curtain using quad face convention then mapping within SU is easy using ThruPaint.
If the curtain is some type of imported file then mapping get trickier depending on your skill level.
Click the link in my signature I think there's a tutorial there using blender to unwrap and bake ao into mesh.
-
im using imported file, i will take a look at your tutorial of blender unwrap and bake. thanks again. really appreciate your help.
-
just a side note: i want to donate some money to sketchucation or to you sir rich obrien. it won't be much. i learned many important things from sketchucation. is there a paypal way to donate or how can i contribute financially? thanks
-
Donate it to some plugin authors. they run the place. we just monitor
-
will do! anyway thanks for answer a lot of my question though. you still deserve my thanks!

you should be able to do this very easily with fredo's thruPaint..
maybe upload a .skp of the curtain so we can see what you're up against..
if it's drawn ok, you'll be able to get this in one click.

So far in my various attempts--the word seems to be "if it's drawn OK". Obviously ThruPaint will not be able to apply quadmesh texture if you don't have a quad mesh.

true.. but it's very possible that natural UV will work out in other scenarios.. here's a curtain which was made with subdivide&smooth (no 'quads')
..then thruPaint's naturalUV mode.
i don't know, it's hard to advise without seeing sketchuh's model of the curtain. -
thanks i will try thrupaint, if it doesn't work i will use blender unwrap tool following rich obrien's tutorial.
