That's not a problem, that's a feature.
Showing a layer in an hidden group turns this group on. That's just the way it works.I agree with Bob James. My preference would be when I turn on a single layer within a group that only that layer comes on. If I click on the group, then I would want all layers to come on. Of course, this is just a matter of preference for working style, but it is the way I would like it. Here is an example of how it would work for me: I have turned off a group. If I want it back on then I click on the group. If I don't want it all back on, but just one layer, then I would like to click on that layer. The way it is now I click on that layer and then have to unclick all the other layers. If there are a lot of them, then this becomes a little tedious.
Just my preference. This is a terrific app.

I totally agree with Huckrorick.

The thing is that a group must active for you to see what's inside. So when you click on a layer inside an hidden group, this group must me activated. And if it's activated, every "hidden by group" (eye grayed out) layers inside it are activated as well.
But I will add a shortcut to isolate a layer (in its local group, and another shortcut for all the way down to the root) -

Great!
By the way: I still have the problem with retaining layers in scenes. Any progress on this?
-
What do you mean "retaining layers" ?
-
A scene is created with a set of layers active.
Go to another scene and add or remove layers that are active in that second scene
Go back to the first scene and the layers originally active in that scene are no longer active.
I reported this several weeks ago. I had to stop using the plugin because of it. I loaded the 0.7 version recently and the problem came back as it was before. -
Really ? It was supposed to be fixed, and this to be an option... Did you do a clean install of the plugin ? Is the option checked ?

Can you reply the features of this plugin for 3dsmax to sketchup?
-
What features exactly ? LP already allows to group and merge layers.
What do "Alternate Material", "Alternate Property", "Import of REZN8 LayerManager Information" exactly ? -
Wow, this plugin is really coming along! When you add the color functionality to the plugin. I will be able to use it exclusively. See as a developer and designer of buildings where renovation is the norm. Having a colored layer for existing work and a second color for work to be removed as well as a new work layer color is critical in developing the scope of a project long before you figure out materials. Thanks for the good work. The great aspect of your plugin would be to start off with the default color and only color the needed layers, but then anything put into that layer would have that color. This is a great checking system to make sure what you have created is in the correct layer. Thanks for your great work.
-
Unfortunatly, I won't be able to add layer colors until the API is updated. There are some workaround, but they're just so heavy, I don't think that would be usable...
In the meantime, layer colors still work in the default layers window. -
FYI, TT is currently helping me porting the plugin on OSX. Cheers to him !
-
Let me know when the plugin will be ready for OSX sistem!!!
THANKS!!!!!! -

Been patiently waiting for a functioning OSX version of this must-have plugin, so this is the best news I've heard in a long time!
Any idea on the ETA?

Nope. In the meantime, you guys can help by filling the issue tracker on the github projet : https://github.com/jiminy-billy-bob/Layers-Panel/issues?state=open

Hey guys, I've added a poll at the top of the topic.
Choose what render engine you would like to be supported by Layers Panel.I don't garanty that I can make it work with every engine, but it some cases it can be done by the engine's dev (Like Tomasz is supposed to be doing with Thea ). So if an engine gets lots of vote and it has to be done by the dev, I can communicate them that there is high demand.

It's here guys !
