The owner of the thread also has the power... If no one has replied that is.

No one removes a post started by another member without discussing it with that member.

If a member removes their own thread then that is their entitlement.

Nothing sinister going from what I can see from the logs.

          Thanks for the reply, Rich.

Krisidios stated that the creator of the thread can remove it, but only if nobody has replied to it. Is this true? If it is, that means Dave R. couldn't have removed it because it already had a number of replies.

Can you or somebody in the know please clarify the rules for deleting a thread?

I don't want to beat this to death and I'm not crying wolf or conspiracy or anything like that. It's just that one of the great things about this forum is that everything is open and above board and everyone pulls together for a common purpose - the enjoyment of SU. I have been a member of several other forums where you had to be very careful what you said, you didn't dare to question the forum policies or even hint at questioning the actions of the people in power or your posts would be deleted as fast as you posted them, to the point that you had no choice but to abandon that forum.

I personally think that if a thread is removed after people have replied to it, a reason for that deletion should be provided. Otherwise people are left to wonder and speculate, and it gives the appearance that something mysterious is going on behind the scenes that they aren't privy to. I think it's especially important in a case like this because a plugin was being recommended, and people who downloaded it might understandably be wondering if the thread was pulled because of some potential problem with that plugin.

Maybe I angered Dave by asking about the apparent roughness of the example model he posted. I wasn't criticizing his work, the only reason I asked the question was because I was curious as to whether this was a common result of using the plugin. As I stated in my post, I was just curious.

I don't want to put more importance to this question than it merits. On the overall scale of things it probably barely registers. And I haven't been very good at putting my thoughts into words for a while now, but I hope you understand what I'm saying here. I also know that I'm not very good at interacting with people and that I sometimes annoy people with my comments and questions, but if I've reached the point in my life that I'm being too annoying please just tell me and I'll go away.

            It could've been a mistake. I don't know?

It is very easy to delete a topic in the mod panel. Simply selecting the wrong option can result in the loss of a thread.

I'd imagine it was user error rather than anything else. But I didn't read that thread so I don't know the content of the topic.

We've posts getting deleted quite frequently. Posts are edited by Mods for incorrect links and bbcode.

So if we spent our time reporting every change we would have no time for pretending we're experts ๐Ÿ˜‰

It was Dave R's thread and as a mod he could deleted it, or moved it into a non-public forum.
Or another admin or mod could have done something similar...
As Rich says every change is logged, but we wait to see what happened...
I suspect a simple error by someone - or the SCF database is frazzled !

When Dave wakes up maybe he'll be able to explain what he knows...

There was nothing controversial about the thread or posts, as far as I know...
Even Dave's 'picky' response, was I thought in his good laconic humor ๐Ÿ˜•

It could also be the Illuminati.

From now on I'll restrict myself to maybe just posting the occasional model.

Probably just better that way, won't have to worry about saying something stupid.
