SketchUp 2013 ;)
-
Sketchup 2013 is faster, at least with Artisan, which I often use. It's like twice(even more) faster .
Also the video mp4 output is great, small size and good quality .Combined with the new toolbar customization and docking I think it is good enough for an update !
Believe it or not, the old version had so many bugs, that in this version were fixed; most of the time they involved in bug fixing the old version which came with it's own problems then it came the new additions with their own bugs!
If you wanted something fancy and WOW ing, we could have waited for about two years !! I for one, can't wait that longer. The slight improvements are good for now, and I hope for more in the future !

Don't forget to right click on a toolbar to launch something a little bit nifty.
Also right click down on the bottom left corner where you login to what's changeable.

v8.2013
Anybody knows how many people they have in dev team? -
Guess, Im too excited, downloaded new Sketchup 2013, installed vray 1.6 beta (which was released just a few days ago to see if it will better perform here. So far running well, but whether it will help vray to go faster or not, I still have to see after few more tests. I hope theres no crashing on the use of vray proxy.

My impression is that SU2013 have been released earlier then expected, because the new feature of "extension warehouse" have had to start competing with SCF "Plugin store" as soon as possible.
From the developer point of view, new SDK looks promising, but we will have to wait till it is usable within SketchUp itself.

Hatch is finally here!
Yes indeed.
Makes Hatchfaces obselete perhaps...
I do like the speed and ease of use of the new LO-Hatches, but do not like the quality of linework when scaling hatches up, because it is still only raster-image.
(Line thickness responds to scaling)Raster-image does put a restriction on what can be further achieved with this new tool.
Still pretty cool though.. Not wanna sound to negative

Not for me, I like using Hatchfaces for direct image output form SU in the initial stages of a project.

Anyone having trouble buying the upgrade?
I keep getting a message that I have entered incorrect licence info.
I entered the licence info by copying and pasting from the licence info that was emailed to me by Google when I upgraded to V8. -

neither the SketchUp fullscreen ruby from Anton_S will work properly ,
As far as I have investigated .
I keep saving files in SKETCHUP 8 version just in caseI still keep SkethUp 7.1
This is only a new packing for selling the old free product. Two important questions:
Can one still use v7.1 for commercial work?
Can it be run with new 2013 installed? -
Seasdes i also had a problem upgrading but then i noticed what the boxes required read it again it's company name and serial.
PS the maxwell plugin looks broken ;(

Hi,
For the little time I have tested SketchUp 2013 I have noticed significantly faster loadings of my plugin which is something to be excited.
Cheers!

I had the licence info sent to me and repasted the Serial No. I still get an error message that I have entered the wrong serial number.

Can it be run with new 2013 installed? The agreement between you and Google was made when you downloaded the product and assumed by Trimble when they purchased, so I would expect legally you can still use all the old versions commercially.

2013 requires a new license. The license for V8 doesn't apply to 2013.
He's talking about buying an upgrade - I assume that one need to enter existing license info in order to buy at upgrade-price instead of full retail.

Correct thomthom. The wizard asks for the latest licence number before I pay. So I assume that its my latest V8 licence.
Its not a matter of how hard is it to understand but how hard to do.

When you upgrade on the site read the box fields i made this mistake twice.
it's not name,serial,key
it's name, company name, key

All this waiting for sketchup 2013 and the end a little changes of icons and some cosmetic stuff. I expected more (64bit sketchup, better integrated uv mapping...)
Some people will stay whit v.8(release date 2010) even v.7.1 (release date 2009) why do you think ?
Some people even spoke(in their dreams) about integrated plugin like a multiscater, new modificators etc.
Do not get me wrong. Im a big fen of sketchup and want develoving to be faster than now.
I hope sketchup 2014 will make the difference. -
I'm not sure if i'm getting this right...
This page (http://www.sketchup.com/products/sketchup-pro/new-in-2013) is showing all the new and amazing features of this build? Is this true?!? If yes, this is a very bad joke...
Anouncing a toolbar system that doesn't trash your screen layout when you resize the window as biggest new feature is unbelievable. And all other "improvements" i can find are related to layout. Is this true?!?So what we get with this update is
- no new features/improvements for sketchup, only bug fixes of things that should have been addressed years ago
- "incredible" new features for layout like "curved label leader lines" (i don't use layout at all and if would do, why should i use curved label lines in an architectural drawing? This is just useless...)
- a higher price
- a subscription
- a Sketchup "Make" (what a stupid name, and how does it correspond with "Pro"?!?) that no longer can be used at work.
did i overlook something?
If this is really all, i know why this was such a quiet release... it's better if nobody sees it! I never thought that it could get worse than all these google warehouse/earth releases in the past...
Is this really true?

I see this realize as a Trimble start, branding, packing and setting a course for future. Now they have much more work to do (see wishlist) to make people buy SketchUp after 7.1. Maybe in a few years...
