      Hi I just purchased this extension today and am trying to use it but for some reason it is inserting random outliers into my point cloud. I am viewing hidden geometry and have no clue why it is inserting random peaks and dips into my fairly level terrain. I attached the SketchUp file.

        What roundness and smoothness values are you using?`

        It can affect the final output so its best to experiment. Especially points clouds that have uneven didtribution.

                Hey, Fredo, a little theoretical question about terrain generation from point cloud:
                What was the mathematical foundation for the terrain mesh upsampling / interpolation algorithm? I mean the tool which increases the mesh density and smooths it, preserving the exact positions of input vertices, as we add iterations. Was it the butterfly subdivision algorithm? Have you used any specific paper to create this tool, or did you come up with the meshing algorithm yourself? I'm asking because I'm looking for something similar for Blender. I know, however, that butterfly subdivision is available in MeshLab, and it does more-less what Topo Shaper does. Besides that, I'm really just curious.

                  @Einstein

                  It's home made. I wrote it long time ago, but I remember that for the interpolation, I did not find anything suitable and usable for my level of math in the literature.

                  For the upsampling of the triangulation, I remember that I tried the Steiner refinement approach, but it did not work well for what I wanted to do. So, I built my own method.

                  I was not familiar with the butterfly subdivision algorithm and still am not. Maybe it is a more conventional approach.

                    Hi, can you tell me whether we can use toposhaper for a terrain that uses both contours and cloud points (spot levels) together?

                      No. At the moment, it is isocontours OR cloud points. You can simulate a few cloud points by small circular contours.
