Too many plugins

This is in relation to the too many plugins available created by kindhearted ruby scripters. I just want also to ask if too much SU plugins installed in the computer can make Sketchup run slower? Thanks.
Only install those Plugins you really need.
If they are Extensions only enable them via Preferences as needed.
Having too many Plugins will slightly increase the time needed for Sketchup to start up [because it must auto-load each one in turn], but it doesn't normally affect its operation once it's running... except that there is currently a limit to the number [~1000] of 'commands' that Sketchup can handle before the context-menu items start to 'gray-out' etc, as it gets overloaded. A 'command' is the code that is made for each toolbar-button/context-menu-item etc, so every tool that makes these adds to the total number of commands; there was a time that a few tools made repeated commands as you used them - exacerbating the issue - however, if you get current versions of tools, there are none that are now known to do this.
Just try to keep a moderate number of Plugins in use at any one time...

Thanks a lot.

Everyone needs different Plugins - it depends on your work...
It's possible to make many models without ever using a Plugin, and grasping the basics [before going 'Plugin-Mad'] is to be recommended...
You are probably right, but still I guess there are some plugins every frequent SketchUp user has installed.

And a little list of "indispensables"

Does the link work for you? "You are not authorised to read this forum."

Pilou's link is to our French forum. If you want to view it just add it under your User Control Panel > Usergroups options.

It's working. Thank you. And thanks for the list, too, Pilou.

Does anyone know at what point do some plugins start to grey out?
My plugins folder is now at 1.10 GBs but all are working fine. I did have the greyout problem before, but I removed some unused ones and solved the problem. -

What on earth do you have in your plugins folder??? Plugins are mostly just plain text files - with the occational folder with cursor, icon and webdialog resources. In no way can I see how any of that makes to to 1GB!!!
Sounds to me that your plugins folder is in dire need of some cleaning up.
I've stopped copying my plugins folder around when I format my computer. Instead I just start to add plugins again - that way I make sure I only have the plugins I use.

thomthom, I gotta admit to being a plugin junkie, and yeah I got way too many that I do not use, I made a new year's resolution to better manage them.
You guys just gotta stop making them, I'm joking of course. And thanks by the way. -
A very useful plugin to add to your collection.

Thanks sdmitch, I'm in the process of cleaning out my plugins folder, got it down to only 100 megs so far.
It seems that when a new version of a plugin came out, I installed it without deleting the old one, and some had several versions in there. Now to solve the "error loading" window that comes up opening SU. I got my work cut out for me.

What message is it?`It should give good leads to where the error is.

Here Thomthom, how do I resolve this?
-
Is there a Plugins anonymous I can attend? 175mb, 3747 files, 164 folders!
And I have not resolved my greying issues, either in my beard or my rubies -
Hey Lapx, maybe I can be your sponsor in PA (Plugins Anonymous).
The beard greying issues can be resolved with beard dye, at least temporarily. Believe me I know.

Well Thanks
I'm trying to clean up my folder again! Here are images of my current plugin floder. Can I delete what appears to be duplicate folders ie.
Fredos folders with diff numbers? I assume the higher number is the lastest and the greatest.
Thanks,

TT_Lib2 does not replace TT_Lib! TT_Lib version 1 is required by Selection Toys.

Thanks Tom,
What about Fredo's stuff? Am I doubling up on his rubies
