[Plugin] [$] Artisan (1.2.3) - Feb 28, 2014
-
I own SDS, Bool Tools, and Profile Builder from you -- all great tools (although I use the solid tools in 8 instead of Bool Tools now). I will most certainly be buying this as soon as you make it available to upgrade
Love the paint brush and sculpting features in particular.
Best,
Jason. -

Whaat, you deserve a Sketchup Medal of Honour !
-
I would love to see some more teasers/tutorials of how this great looking plug in will work.

Do we have one of those?
Idea for the next speed challenge!

Looking foreward to the release. Very cool!

quick question about it , when it subdivides does it base the new subdivisions off of previous geometry or can it subdivide off of a grid, see examples. For those of use who use displacement this would be handy. That being said I have no understanding how the software is made and don't even know if this would be possible.

Try Thomthom's Edge Tools

I'll check it out, thanks!

But in relationship with Artisan?
-
Perhaps he needs 'quadrilateralizer' ?
-
I think it's a neater divide function he's after?

Grid sub-d might look neater visually, but functionally won't work well for many things where they need triangualtion.

my big concern is that when using sketchup and having a square shape with a round cutout. Sketchup has poor mesh handling so when I use displacement there is that strong possibility of geometric artifacts (i.e. elongated displacement geometry where if based off of a grid the artifacts would be less likely to distort geometry) I'll try and render up a example later today.
As far as the grid I was just looking at the "grid" to be triangulated, within sketchup the square is divided when exported into two triangles. so essentially it still maintains the triangulation as opposed to quad faces. Please forgive me if I've got something wrong, again I'm in no way knowledgeable in how the software actually functions.
oh and why artisan? its because out of all the plugins out there it has the most promise of what I was hoping for and It has a ton of other awesome features that I'll be buying it for
