Naval Cutter "Alert" 1777
-
Axeonalias, not much people can say, the model and rendering say it all
-
It's easier to see in the closeups that it IS a low poly model, but damn, it still looks fantastic!
-
Yes, low poly but there is a reason. Not everything has to be photoreal in the way we are pampered here nowadays with 2-3 really high poly objects in close-ups as standstills and such. Those have their place and this has its own place, too.
And indeed it is fantastic!!! I really enjoy the development presented this way!
-
Thanks guys,Ive been itching to build one of these without any regard for poly`s (without being stupid about it of course) but the only use for it would be renders, maybe ill take on a project like that in the future.
All Bolts added,These will be deleted after the baking process, they will leave little black spots on the texture to appear as bolts in game,And the 18ft Cutter boat added,Still not happy with the textures, will play around abit
-
Great !!!!!
-
Not happy with the textures? Seriously?
Yer kidding, right?
-
Well closeup the textures did reveal another story and looked pretty horrible before she was painted,Shes all lined up now
Standing Rigging added,Running rig will be minimal as the Game does not support it (hint hint) ,mast fitted perfectly into its step and nothing needed to be adjusted on the decks to straigten it up this time
Main boom and Gaff are lying on the deck and will be fitted shortly along with all her spars.
A cutaway render will be posted next time ,Bear in mind that in reality Ships like these were launched when the hull was complete,The armament, masts,Rigging and sails were all done afloat. -
Boom and Gaff is in place and rigged, sails are modeled but not textured yet, this is a lenghty proccess, this entire ship was made without any plugins apart from the sails.
-
Holy smokes...
-
A true 'tour de force'
Please tell me that you've backed up your files -
Has someone seen my jaw? I left it on the floor somewhere....

Yeah. They were in the basement. Here you are:
-
Well its time for her to officially get wet, the sails have been fitted in game and shes good to go,still need to add the sail texture and the footropes etc to the spars, but the worst of its over, the bowsprit being offset slightly to her port makes setting the Jib tricky but not impossible, the Staysail is centred as its Line comes off the stem head ( BONUS! )
Ive set the sails in game in a way so that you can choose your own sail setup,The main squaresail and the T`gallant share a File while all the rest are induvidual. -
Some slight wrinkling of the sails would really sell the whole set-up (wow, the first critique, I guess)
Exquisite job, thanks for sharing!
-
Congratulations!
Truly amazing. One question though, is this a shot of the ship in-game or a rendering? Sorry, I'm not very good at distinguishing these kind of things.

Wow this is amazing. The only thing is the sails need a real texture, then it would be perfect!
-
Work which can only be aspired to by regular folks like me, you are an inspiration!!
ok,, back to work for me..Wishing you continued success in your efforts.
