Like a height map, or making faces out of each pixel?

Yes like a height map (if i understand what a height map is correctly πŸ˜„ ).
If i have a spesific face that i have to work with, and it represents a water surface:

      http://i.imgur.com/OGAljLM.png?1

I woud like to add small waves to that face like Mistro11 did in this post
Is there some way to bound the bmp to that face?

Why not just make the mesh from a rectangular bitmap and trim it to that shape after?

The mesh would be incredible dense. Are you rendering the image eventually? I'd then put use the render engine and apply the bitmap as a bump map or displacement map instead.

I agree with both of you. Trimming it or rendering it would be a solution. But still i am curious if it is possible to bind the bmp to a face.

This plug in is amazing, thank you so much.

But it took me a long time to find, I suggest in your extension warehouse keywords you add "Displacement Map" or Displacement baking and similar stuff to help others find it.

nice one, could be useful for landscape modeling in my case.
ive probems to draw the depth plane.

-i loaded a bitmap noise image into su
-i defined the origin and width, while with depth im unable to confirm, the click is blocked.
Also using a numerical imput and confirming that op doesnt work.

                (mac, su13 free)

Make sure the bitmap is 24bit and that it doesn't include color space information.

What? you haven't tried Raylectron yet?

To those people having an issue with not being able to click when prompted to Pick depth, make sure that the image you are using does not have any color space information. I believe that someone already mentioned this awhile back in the thread.

The link below shows an image of the GIMP export settings when exporting a BMP image.
Notice that I have Do not write color space information checked.
I have no idea how to check if a BMP image has color space or not. Best bet is to open the image and save/export it without color space information.

Continuing with the attempt to install the plugin (the only one after easy install) I got this message in the skp. screen

Hmm... That message about not being supported - it would indicate you have an OSX version older than 10.7. Though that seem rather old - as it incorrectly matching your system? What is your OSX version?

You have an old [now unsupported] OSX 10.6
As TT said, you need to have at least 10.7...

Can't you update your OS ?
There is the 'Software Update...' button on the 'About This Mac...' dialog...

If for some reason you can't upgrade your OS, then several Extensions [including this one] will not work...
That is the limitation, unless you change things...

Also SketchUp no longer supports v8 [and v2013 will cease shortly] - also several Extensions will no longer work in older SketchUp versions [this is often irrespective of the computer's OS, since they might rely on new API features, which are unavailable in those older SketchUp versions] - so why no 'bite-the-bullet' and upgrade both your OS and SketchUp version ?

                                      TIG

I'm afraid the 10.7 requirement is because I no longer have machines to build for older systems. For every release of OSX it gets harder to support these as well as older versions. I might have to drop 10.7 soon as well given the frequency of OSX releases. πŸ˜•

Only thing I can think of to run 10.6 would be to try one of the older versions of TT_Lib: https://bitbucket.org/thomthom/tt-library-2/downloads

Though you will then have less features and bug-fixes.

I'm also not sure which version might be compatible.
