[Plugin] Axes Tools
-
The attached model contains two not so "simple cubes". The one at the origin is the original cube. The one on the right is a copy which has been made unique and rotated 90 degrees. When the copy is selected, Change Axes show the insertion point of the copy at the back right corner as you would expect. Using your Axis Tool and choosing right, front, bottom does move the insertion point but the axes orientation is un-changed so, when it selected for placement, it appears un-rotated.

Thom, I've got an idea to add.
see here:
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=43404&p=387027#p387027Would be nice to be able to context click on a group or component and reset the Axes orientation to global.....
I'd be interested to see if it is possible.
Cheers,
Andrew

What would expected behavior for nested components be?

Rest all I reckon.....

This plugin is absolutely awesome, thanks a lot!
I'm exporting models to CryENGINE3, which is limited with FP16 vertex coordinate precision, so moving the pivot point to the center of a bounding box to utilize the whole range of available values on each axis is a very important thing to do. Your plugin just saved me tons of time otherwise wasted on doing this manually.
And yeah, the possibility to disable the centering for vertical axis (and using e.g bottom of the bounding box) is awesome too - especially for more or less flat models where I can sacrifice some excess precision in exchange for ease of object placement. Or also, it's very useful for small props, like furniture or natural clutter, which can be placed in hundreds - digging each object from the ground would have been quite bothersome).

May I request 'add cpoint' feature at the axes origin?
-
This what my doctor ordered, a full dose of axes tools. When making game model in sketchUp I always adjust the axes to fill the game need but i just can't get it centered on the object fast enough. This plugin sure cured that problem.

Hi, I have created a simple box model in free Sketchup 8 and want to set the origin of the model's bounding box to exactly its center. I tried with this plugin but after running it on my model in Sketchup nothing happens.
Is this Axes Tool / Insertion Point Plugin not the correct solution for my needs, or have I missed something here?
Thanks!

Are you trying to set the axis of your model or a component?
This plugin only changes the axis of selected groups/components - not the model axis.

Thanks, I managed to get the functionality that I was looking for with this plugin:

You're sooooo welcome!

It doesn't rotate the axis, it simply moves the origin of the components - the insertion point.
Though, it could be made to also rotate the axis to match the current model axis.
Hi Thomthom - is the above possible. Used your Axes plugin a lot (thanks) but wonder whether you are able to add this functionality in to it. Being able to align the axis to the model axis would be great. I started a thread here
http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=54818
but thinking about it this thread is probably a better place for it.Thanks

Is there a tool or method that will allow a selection of components to acquire the axis of another component all at once?
-
So simple, so good! Finally I can snap to compo's center when rotating

Hello ThomThom,
can you update the plugin for SU2018 because does not work like on versions before.
Thanks
