Roadie, first of all u should be sure to find and download some blueprints(without them is very hard),then search for lot of reference images, then(but not last) u should have some average skills in sketchup..and only after these steps start building it. imho
All the best!

Or maybe you can give this a try http://www.delftship.net/delftship/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=31:delftship-free&catid=13:products&Itemid=4
It exports .DXF, and .OBJ AFAIK, so you can load these in SU. -

Ive got the plans he built the boat to which are printouts which ive caded up the drawings in autocad. The guy who designed the boat drew it all by hand old school style and doesnt have downloadable plans. Plus you have to pay for the plans which is about Ā£500
I have loads of images ive taken of the boat and have been given by my father inlaw
I have average skills in solidworks as i use it at work for architecture concepts but its mostly straight lines and curves not organic shapes. Ive used sketchup lots but cant get my head around the the hull shape and making it work. Ive drawn the majority of the other bits to attach to the hull but the hull is the most important bit.

ive found these pics if people want them

Give the guy a break - he doesn't know where to start. Posting a model of a completed hull (even if it lacks accuracy) doesn't help much because it doesn't show how to set it up.
-
I don t see u struggling too much making it..
Here is the hull,if i don t see you finishing it ,means u don t wanna make it..
Happy sketching!

Golant Gaffer hull by EliseiDesign.skp
BTW The halves are components,u can just work at one of them and the other will update by itself.EDITED: A small mistake i made without my will, model uploaded again .

Jim,in this case...should i remove the files?
Roadie,sorry if i m(was) a bit harsh to you!All the best!

Additi0nal info for you ref problen areas:http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=1f56117edc6c5690ab9c83967811b1f7 It looks to me like a problem with the rail profiles 3 to 4 down. I used the shown cutting plane to get intersection points with the rails . You should then be able to create good bulk head profiles for TIG's suggestion pending issue with the rails -

No no, you were not harsh. I think this is a tough model to start with.

Elisei,
I'd be interested to learn how you did the modelling of the surface. I can't get it that smooth. I used TIG's EEBR and as can be seen, I get "pleats" at the front.
-
Make several equally segmented 'bulkheads' and so it in pieces...
Profile 2 for one becomes profile 1 for the next - split the rails a long the 'keel' and 'side' -
Thanks TIG.

The mesh in the first post isn't very clean - there are many edges that are not connected to anything, and many that do not actually intersect. You really need to get in close to find them, but they are there. It might explain some of the results of using some of the plug-ins.
Is this sort of thing a use for TIG's manifold plug-in?

All of the rail ( cline) profiles do not intersect( except some places at the ends) with the bulkheads and if one uses a cutting plane and tries to create them there are points that look obviously out of place. Trying to fill in with a bezier curve can be done but the hull then is not correct. Working with the orginal post model with out correcting the profiles and itersection will probably result in problems just getting worse IMHO.
