Very nice,
I noticed the original lines remain, hahe you though of using smething like "remove cplanar edges" to eliminate thos elines after the push/pull operation?
Great job anyways! -
...very usefull! thank you!:)

Great job anyways!I like that idea, CADAddict!
Maybe something similar to the standard Pushpull with 'Ctrl' Pushpull leaving original face and edges....What do you think a4chitect?

i think you are talking about thd first entry in the todo list in the first post; such feature is planned.

Tricky!

Great and useful Plugin!
I've got a few more to do's:
- What makes sketchup a great and fast program to use, is mainly the easy inferencing!
As with the regular push-pull tool, you should be able to indicate exactly where the pulled plane will arrive to. The pulled plane should stick to existing lines/points which may intersect with it.
[right now, I've noticed it only sticks if I start pulling the plain from a point (which is very difficult to determine if it's sticking or not) which is on a line (perpendicular to the pulled plain) which reaches the point I want to get to... (I imagine that's isn't very clear, I can add an image if needed) ]
-
If two, or more of the side planes merge into a single point or a single line, it ought to stick there too.
geometrically that would happen when one any one of the side planes gets to n-1 edges. -
when using the VCB - entering a number, pressing enter, and then entering another number, should act like other sketchup tools. It should act as though you're still pulling the same plane once. currently it keeps making more and more faces.
-
when pressing TAB WHILE using the tool - at times it's like double clicking, other times it repeats the last doubleclick... behavior inconsistent and confusing. It should just change the behaviour without committing any changes.
I would have loved to help solve these issues myself, but scripting is Chinese to me...

I forgot to mention a very important detail.
I was testing the script on Mac OSX with sketchup 7.0! so all the points above relate to sketchup on OSX.testing it on a PC with sketchup 7.1 returned very nice results! Though points 2 and 3 above are still problematic.

very cool, thanks!

Diego, this is what you want:

I use the plugins, Joint Push Pull
but not works as SmartPushPull v0.26idea for icons
-
can you add, pushpull for multiple faces?¿
maybe pressing> shift <
-
Very good! And in time, too. Thanks!

that would be great indeed. but I think a modifier key is unnecessary. simply apply the tool to more than one faces, if they have been pre-selected...
-
I had occasion to use it a few times today and found it quite handy. As a matter of chance, I was grateful for the lingering edges as they made it easier to make progressive pulls in which intermediate sections could be readily deleted, as desired. Face colors did not track the original, which would have been preferred, and as, no doubt, you are aware.
Thanks much for sharing.

Thanks a lot for this plugin !! Keep going !

thanks to all for leaving nice comments!
I read all suggestions and will definitely try to develop this plugin further. Please be patient...

spp.skpRe thomthom's problem, this can never be solved, as the corner causing the problem has 4 edges/faces not three, so the program does not know which edge/face should be top priority. Only happens if lines meet at corner, as even a couple of pixels on one edge/face is enough to ascertain direction.
Hopefully the file returned altered will point this out better, one item prioritises the green face, the other the red. When the green is used, as seems to be happening when I tried it, you need to physically add a line to complete the edges/faces as shown in the blue faces in the diagram.
Hope this helps clear this up.Trev. (total newbie)
