Had similar issues with Scaniverse exports. The PLY files often come out huge with vertex colors that SU chokes on. Try opening it in MeshLab or CloudCompare first, decimate the mesh a bit and re-export as a cleaner PLY or OBJ. That fixed the crashing for me. Which SU version are you running?

I tried the plug in at another machine but the behaviour isn‘t successfull eather.

Su doesn‘t crash but th Import is empty

I tried that one to reduce the mesh and it doubbled it 8-)

and system crashes as well

If you watch the first video you will see you need a SketchUp Labs extension to try it out.

OK, got that app but the file is reported as having no splat contained. Talking about the tramway model.

The PLY file is a point cloud not a 3DGS gaussian splat.

If this was a true gaussian splat file it would be much larger than 7.1mb

Yep, that point cloud had colour data applied to points.

importing to meshlab works for me as well, but the import to sktechup makes a crash.

I tried it for the first time and it looks nice. I prepare the gaussian splat file with postshot -when it was free-. I add a house to the scene. I render it with sketchup ai.

behaviour is new: Su doesn't crash anymore.

It loads but model doesn't appear. and there is that error:

"rendering engine and splat database isn't initialised correctly"

what can I do?
