New version quirks

Anyone else experiencing any quirky behavior with latest version 21.1.299 64 bit?

I run windows 10 pro

here are two things I am noticing.

If I click on the paint bucket and then press alt to get the eye dropper tool and select a color with the eyedropper the paint bucket does not return after eye dropping. it just remains in eyedropper mode.
When using the move tool if I press control to go into copy mode and then copy whatever it is I am copying, the tool will stay in copy mode. not a big deal in that I just have to hit control again to change it back to the move tool but that is not how it used to work. Is this a purposeful change or a bub?

It's a change in the way those tools work !

There has been lots of outrage in the community...
With demands for it to be a toggle setting in preferences etc...
New users will find it [perhaps] logical, but established users find it a PITA !

We'll see if the powers-that-be see any sense...

I am a fairly adaptable human but so far I am in the
P.I.T.A camp.

I guess I feel a need to elaborate on the paint bucket tool....
The way it works now is nuts. It is logical to think that the reason one would be using the eye dropper tool would be to grab a color and then immediately paint it onto another surface, so having the tool return to the paint bucket is absolutely the correct function.

I cant even click on the bucket tool again to paint. I have to completely go out of the tool and then come back to the paint bucket.

This one needs to be fixed.

A new logo, layers to tags renaming, now this..

I have to report that my color picking tool is now working like it always has.
I do not know why it would have changed after the update and then changed back a day later, but it did. Maybe a few re boots helped.

Sorry for the ultimately baseless complaint.

Is there a way to roll back to the previous update? The one prior to version 21.1.299 64 bit.

My color picker/paint bucket tool is now inconsistent. One time it works as it always has, the next time it hangs up with the eye dropper, sometimes it will not pick a color without clicking several times...
I also do not like the way the move/copy tool works now.

If any body can point me to how to roll back my version, I would appreciate it.

After reading this thread, I tried to see if I would have the same issues.

Currently, the program is behaving as expected.

SU 21.1.299 64 bit

I tried that and it worked fine for me.

I have been having intermittent odd behavior. Today however, it seems to be working just like the old days. Makes me think the issue is with my setup and not with the update as I thought.

I tried this and it did glitch once, but all other times (half a dozen)in 2021 the tool seems to be working normal

besides the need to learn a new set of button presses combinations to turn "features" on and off (a real PITA if your used to holding the modification key while operating and then reverting), the constant "graying out" of the context menu and then later, even the edit->group or edit->component menus requiring a restart of the app. this latest version is very counter-productive (esp the latter menu graying nonsense).

If the move tool and paint tool being spasmatic and graying out of contextual menus is operating as expected than I think expectations need to be adjusted.

This latest update is counterproductive.

Is there a way to roll back the version on my setup?

I've rolled back to the previous version. I cannot work with the new version. i'm not interested in pressing more keys to do the same stuff i used to. I would love the option to use SU as "legacy". Until then I'm not upgrading.

Which version are you actually using? Your post implies SU2020, your signature says SU2017 and your bio says SU2016?

I just installed the latest SU update they rolled out today. The crtl+move stickiness is gone and it's back to the traditional behavior where you have to hold ctrl to copy. Yay! It's been bugging me ever since I installed 2021 a month or so ago.

That behavior changed in a release about a month ago, the one today addressed some other issues.
Note that the toggle still works, they added back in the ability to hold it down. And a double tap of ctrl before you start turns on the repeat paste option.

Hmmm, new minor version released today?

Doing a version check on my SketchUp 2021 (version 21.1.332) says I have the latest version, also no newer version on the SketchUp Download URL either?

Am I missing something? Was something released and subsequently retracted again?
