In Frredo Tooks you can have Curvizard display as a toolbar.

Sorry, under Tools > Fredo Collection > Curvizard > Default Parameters

            You can tweak the toolbar.

In fact under all his tools you can tweak things. An amazing chap he is.

I noticed one my skp file is over 100mb. Any changes I make will take forever to save. And worse still . It will crash!!!!
I desperately need help on how to reduce file size . I am not a newbie at all. I really like to like sketchup . But the slow response and crashes make me want to give up using it. Please help. I spend at least 8 hours to set up a interior room scene. And I think at least 40% of the time is wasted. I need help
If no one can help me here. I will consider the private consultation . Please help!!

Which kind of scene? For rendering? How many polys? Large textures?
If it is for rendering, which renderer? I always use low res dummy textures in my sketchup models with full res textures for the linked materials.

                hi

it would be best if you add 'mac' to your question so other mac users notice...

v2014 on mac seems to be more stable to me...

but I only ever manually save [Apple "S"] and I have save copies turned off as well...

on large models or any with lots of curves, close all other 'Inspector' windows before saving

                john

learn from the mistakes of others, you may not live long enough to make them all yourself...

So curvizard can reduce polygons? I will try it out today!

i use vrary 2.0 for render and this file is only for rendering.
                  Thanks

curvizard can only reduce (or increase) segments of a curve not polygons of curved object.

So how big are your textures? Is it possible with vray to use smaller versions of textures in SU and only render at full rez?

Don't forget Goldilocks 2.0... It will weigh the entire model and pick out heavy points.

-one problem that keeps happening is material will be duplicated after some crashes or restart in vray material editor. should i manually delete them or run some command? im afraid if i should delete the original one or the duplicated one. the original one usually lost all material settings, have that happened to you?

-also i will try all your suggestions. thanks indeed. i will keep adding update in this post. thanks again for the help.

-i guess i will keep my texture size at minimum since it contributes to the problem.

I assume you're only modelling the surfaces that we can see in the above image? I.e. Is the duvet (and the bed) a solid model or just an upper skin?

                            I have the same issue.
Why doesn't the file size reduce when I delete objects?
I have a cathedral in a SU file and the document size is 1.1 GB. In fact most of my files are around the 850-900meg range. And yes SU does crash a lot and waste vast amount of my time waiting for anything to reload.
I've copied it and deleted 90% of the building and I still end up with the same size file. What am I doing wrong?? Please help πŸ˜„

Keep in mind that deleting components does not remove them from the file. The components will still be held in the model. Any materials you might have tried remain in the In Model Materials collection as do Styles. Go to Window>Model Info>Statistics and hit Purge Unused to get rid of the unused stuff.

Although not required, I like to use a plugin made by TIG to purge unused stuff because it gives a report of how many of each sort of thing gets purged.
