You can actually do it but they won't be attached at the side as in LayOut. I have all of my SketchUp windows (layers, components, materials, etc. placed on the right side of my screen and the main window to the left. My screen is a 25" monitor and I have the main SketchUp window set to cover about 4/5 of the width of the entire screen. This gives room for the small windows on the right. Somewhere there is a thread where various people showed their screens and I have a screen shot of this.

I understand, that´s a good workaround. Still...Layout`s way is better.

Actually, since that screen shot was made I think I have a few less.

This belongs to the general SketchUp section, right? I don't see anything related to plugins here.

If you would include a more accurate description of your problem or question in the subject of your post, it will be easier for others to find in the future should they have a similar situation. Plus, it will increase your chances that someone with expertise in the area you are having a problem with will notice the post and maybe provide the help you need.

He was talking about the topic title - it's preferred that it is descriptive of the topic, not just something generic. Makes it easier when you search or browse for a given topic.

In this case, a title of "Can you dock tool-windows in SketchUp like in Layout?" would be a better title instead of "No way, is it?"

                                  You see?

Yes, your question was clear enough. I was referring to the subject, "No way, is it?". What I was saying is that if you describe your question/problem in the subject of your post, somebody else who may have a similar question somewhere down the road can do a search and find this thread and maybe the information he needs. And as I mentioned, it also increases the chances of somebody noticing your post who has some expertise in the area in question.
Not a huge thing, just a suggestion that makes these forums a bit more useful for everyone
