Texture/logo on glass
-
sure. Here are some basic steps:
- make your glass surface, define a glass material (in vray)
- have a logo on a transparent background (png file)
- duplicate your glass material (in vray editor)
- add a diffuse layer to your glass material, add your texture as the linked bitmap, then move the diffuse1 layer above your first diffuse layer. This then shows up the texture in the sketchup material editor.
- draw a rectangle on your glass surface where the logo will go. apply the material, and position so it doesn't repeat.
Here's an example:

I have tested your solution and it worked on a window from a shop and the other quesion about a drinking glass i am still working on but i think that will work also.
So i must thank you very much for this work around.

You could also just drag the graphic into SU as an Image entity. Place it on the surface - offsetting by 0.5mm (avoiding z-fighting).
-
Strangely Images don't z-fight but a Group/Component of a Face with an image-as-material-texture will z-fight, so then a small offset is advisable...

In SketchUp - no. But if I remember correctly - in VfS you do get z-fighting.

Aha !
Didn't know that!
It's probably because the Image is effectively converted into a material on a face... -
Getting it to wrap the glass, will be a bit more of a challenge, but you could approach it the same way as above.

HvanEssen, Glad it worked for you!
importing an image only works for flat logos - the drinking glass one would have to be mapped. Also, make sure the "use alpha for transparency" is checked in the vray material.

Good point!
-
by the way, here's an example of a bottle mapped in the method I explained.

Yes it worked fine and i found the use alphafor transparency, this one must only in the diffuse layer with the imported logo.
By the way nice bottles you made, i will try these also to make
