Thanks Kristoff, I inserted them and got most of the colors, it just left out most of the 3000 series colors. But it worked well enough for the task at hand. Matte

@krisidious said: Shouldn't you two be working on your tree models... instead of trying to figure out who's is longer? whose what? snake? i was just joking last night by the way.. there's no software capable of zooming like that i put an easter egg link in my last post but nobody found it.. anyway, i was just looking around for more views of the carving in hopes of finding something to make a heightfield out of.. http://www.custommade.com/carved-wall-artsculpture/by/chrysaliswoodworks/ didn't find anything regarding a heightfield but found the guy's site which has a decently interesting explanation of the piece..

Here is a link I discovered that gets down into the details of colors, plus it basically has cross references to all brands and all color names: http://encycolorpedia.com The front page is fairly sparse, so you have to type in a search term, or you have to click on the hyperlinks under the search bar. I found this because I had an existing paint in my home that I wanted to match and I was looking for RGB values (I find the sampling technique a little fussy). So I just make a new material in SU and type in the RGB values. Volia! This site breaks down your chosen color into 22 "colorspaces" (e.g., RGB, RGBA, RYB, Hex, HSV, and an host of alphabet soup which I don't understand), shows "color wheel" compliments, analogous, split, triad, square, etc..., hues and saturation variants, related colors, color variants, and a complete mapping to all colors to paint schemes from all paint manufactures (I can't count them all) to include home (Behr, Glidden, Sherwin-Williams), designer (Martha Stewart, Ralph Lauren) Automotive (DuPont), Models (Testors, Revell), and even Crayola! I think if you want a great resource for the real details of color this is it! Plus -- the place isn't plastered with advertising and doesn't ask for registration or a fee. I think I saw one advertising banner inconspicuously placeed somewhere on top. Let me know what you think! Frank

@driven said: Hard links are different on a mac, they are modified (from the unix version) for use with TimeMachine. They work on files or folders…. I'm familiar with how Time Machine uses hard links in the backup folders. Shortly after it was released, I spent some time on Apple's user support forums trying to explain to curious users how it worked & why they should not tamper with those folders outside of the Time Machine interface. A surprising number of Mac users noticed the backup folder sizes added up to more than the total backup space used on the drive & tried to "fix" that.

If you import an image-file as an Image you can have it NOT glued by simply inserting it in free-space. If you have imported it an placed it onto a face it will glue onto it... BUT all is not lost... Select the Image and the context-menu has an item 'Unglue': if you use that tool then the Image will be no longer 'stuck' onto that face, and it can then be move/rotated etc as desired - much like a Component that has gluing/cutting behavior like a window or door, that can also be 'unglued'...

Maybe you could lighten the Edge color from the Styles dialog.

I see. I used a screen capture application too last night to try it. Save it as png. Haven't try to use it in a model though. I thought you could use any of those webpage's buttons. Thank you.

Those tools may well add 'observers' onto your Model's Materials collection, which in turn might well mess you up as you add materials... However, they are mainly encrypted, and I don't have a 'live' copy of them either, so I can't be certain... If you narrow it down to the one culprit, or you decide its an interaction of say the two, then it would be helpful to the wider community if you advise the author[s] directly - they might be able to make their tool less 'aggressive' with some simple recoding...

Years ago Pete made a basic studio, and I think it was Al Hart who uploaded it to the warehouse. I've used it many times. See if it works for you. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=ebc91c36e92e7c0e971df5c4458c07f7&prevstart=0

Hi every-one. I would welcome any advice on where to find some free UK designed 2 story house models. I only need external views for the models, with the facility of changing external render/s. The designs would have an integral single garage and preferably be 12m square or less. Thanks in anticipation. Richard

Thank you, Peter. The output size (and the viewing size) does indeed affect the appearance of the lines. The larger the output size, the thinner and in this case harder the lines appear. [image: OPLF_export.png] Here's an example. I used the same line style, the Straight 2B Pencil from above, and made a series of exports at different sizes. The smallest was 800 pixels wide which shows on the left. I then resized the larger images so they are all the same size. As you can see, by changing the export size you can vary the appearance of a single line style quite dramatically. I often export lines at a larger size than the rest of the model so I can make the lines very thin. This also allows me to manipulate the image/textures and so on without affecting the lines.
