I used to run a front break on my fixie, but it was a 30 year old Mafac center pull, so it was close enough to muscle braking only. Single speed is for people who compromise, and I'd run two brakes on those too.

I too, have never been a great fan of FG. However I visited the Stata Center last fall and was won over by the experience of the design. The myriad of complex spaces, one leading into another, the interior "street" was delightful, with views into labs, to the exterior thru interestingly placed/shaped windows and virtually continuous natural light streaming from above makes the building wonderful to move thru. The roof terrace at the top of a ramp that winds up from one end of the "street" is a great space, nestled in amongst the tors of stainless and polished metal. My least favorite aspect of the building is the street facade, which varies in form and character along the block. I never have believed in Gehry design as an integrated form of architecture; it does not necessarily contribute to the urban fabric. I have viewed his buildings as sculptural object pieces, best for civic cultural landmarks such as art museums and concert halls, therefore not contributing to the advancement of architecture as a practical art. Strata has come as close as I have seen to being contextural, not in the sense of expressive form, but in scale and interpretation of the urban street-wall. I do not think FG will ever be considered to reside in the practical realm, hence the issues with the performance of his buildings. MIT should have known better, being a campus of engineers, that to think that they would not have issues with the building as it was designed.

I wondered about that too, John. I hope Ken responds. Bob, yes...I think so for the most part. But in the mid-50's Ike proclaimed Armistice Day expanded to honor all Veterans, changing the name here to Veterans Day. Daniel, my Dad mentioned the same sadness yesterday (he's coping, though not so well, with watching a 4th generation of veterans coming home...since he grew up just after WW1, as I did after WW2). I too fear for these guys (and gals now). I mean no disrespect saying, in general, I don't see that they have had to build the coping skills/experience my Dad's generation could count on to get by (just as my generation had less too). I pray they find the support they need to really "come home".

Idk, he could be a kind benevolent ruler. He seems happy, in an "I just spent 15 years of my life on a model car" sort of way.

And I bet you got a much better quality than the PhotoShop >> JPG >> Revit >> PDF route. Jpg is a lossy compression, then you took it to another software which MIGHT* not handle raster very well and print to pdf from there. (* Sorry I have only AutoCAD experience and it does not handle raster well). Guite

Maine Coon! First I've heard of these cats. I have learned that there is a UK Maine Coon Club but nothing here in Ireland. I found this interesting link, http://www.verismocat.com/htmscripts/leo-guinness.htm Mike [image: WCEA_Picture3.png]

Those Fox News anchors had way too much fun with the story. And they look like the kind of guys who kept reaching into my pants when I was a kid.

Thanks to every one and all of you. Only saw this now, the last couple of weeks have been a little hectic so I couldn't visit as often as I wanted. Solo yeah, that was something eh?! Nothing to be sorry about there Dylan, there has to a winner and a loser in every contest. Sometimes you're the matador and sometimes you're the bull.

There's spam everywhere - it's just up to the number of posts altogether and the time and energy moderators (or any kind of staff) can devote to filtering them. There is (though not too many) spam posts here as well - but thank those who report them we can handle them.
