OK, still moving on with the build. Sketchup diffusion threw a few wobblies after an update went south. Rayscaper still on it. The colour is antique white from the skp standard collection, looking to see if I keep the pbr collection, not keen tbh. Ahhh, thick walls, something like this I suppose. It just takes more time, and when I'm experimenting with new design ideas (aka sketching) it's a detail I feel can be left for future iterations.

Thanks, about the curtain I used 3dsmax and export it as .3ds... Sketchup imports 3ds very well. allanx

Beautiful design and presentation, Mateo. I wonder about the practicality of the canopy, though. Looks like the space between the two planes is a perfect spot for pigeons and other birds to roost.

@kwistenbiebel said: I like the way you simulated that glass. A bitmap texture as emitter? I should try that. Actually, it is sunlight that is penetrating the window. The window materials are a simple diffuse material with the SketchUp opacity set to 65. Using the texture as an emitter probably would have rendered faster and looked almost identical, though. Never thought to do it that way I would have commented on your image, but my office always blocks your links . Nice image! You are a pro when it comes to composition! I see some strange uv errors. I wonder if there are some issues there with the Fry exporter?

It's Sunday in a small East Tennessee town. Everythings closed. He's waiting on his girlfriend Martina to pick him up. Thanks guys. It's my first "real" rendering with Vue. The man is from Poser, the bench from FormFonts. Everything else I modeled and textured in SU (except sky and trees).

@unknownuser said: well you probably know about this method but just incase others reading this did not I thought I would post it. thanks phil, i knew about that method and have used it for other projects, but somehow i always have a tendency to make my whole model on one layer without use of components even though i work with autocad 40 hours a week and constantly use layers and blocks. i think my problem is that when i start making a model i cant wait to see results so i even start adding detail to one part of the model, while the other parts arent even made globally, very unefficient i know, but i need that for motivating myself to complete the rest of the model

yea that's much better. Be careful with the details of the pergola. The trellis "2x4" at the long wall you can only get cedar in about 12' lengths so you will have some butt joints to accomplish that long run. Detail a scarf joint at one of the brackets and then stagger the joints so that the joints are not all at the same bracket. Also the larger top member of the brackets seems too heavy for the relative small size of the trellis members. I see why its that size to match with the other ones on the end of the building. You might look into making the trellis slightly different details than the much larger pergola at the end of the building. see attached image for a scarf joint. [image: KxcO_09.jpg]
