I LOVE these renders! Such a beautiful balance between hyper-realism and artistic license: the distorted, almost motion blurred foreground and the deliberate banding in the sky are perfectly dramatic for highlighting such a simple design. What render software are you using and how much of the final image is post-processing?

It is hard to do, but it is called mesh modeling. you put blueprints together, and start to model. drawing arcs and help lines, you see one the picture. And draw squares, and move them. Its hard to tell...Its the same as they do with other 3d model programs. search for car 3d tutorial for 3ds max or somthing similar like that.

Beautiful. Definitely my style. and great texture. Do you think perhaps the middle panel attaches to top bar closer to the front? That deep edge looks uncomfortable (being someone who is taller). Hard to tell from the sample. Peter

That Japanese one is very good, and the Airplane one made me laugh for some reason. Very good renderings.

Thanks a bunch, Guys! Tomislavm, the file is 1.42M and the model is 800'x400'. Pete, lets not push the season ahead yet, thanks :`) Here's a couple more with a different look...? Thanks for the input guys. I don't do a lot of renderings like this. I work as the only drafter for a small environmental consulting company that specializes in gas station design and environmental compliance. Most of the drafting i do is with civil 3d and basic autocad, but it is very nice to be able to use sketchup when needed. The only 3d rendering experience I had before sketchup was what little i did in high school using Autocad 2000. Because i don't do this stuff very often, and have never really considered myself very artistic, i have a lack of confidence when it comes to making something look good (for other people, i know what i like) and much appreciate the input from anyone else. these are all great ideas and i will make sure to implement them in my next rendering project.

here i made an example... it wasnt motion but radial blur i used 10%. you can make a batch where you can deside how much the blur will be. will take a lot of time but i think the sequence will look a bit more realistic [image: FBfg_radialblur_zoom10.jpg] [image: RHxq_radialblur_zoom10_2.jpg]

Really thanks for the comments! I already have a texture... but i think it isnt that good..(photoshop is hard to use..And Sketchup cant projected it everywehere nice on the model...)So i think i'll wait with the texture till i have some moe skills there. Thanks Solo, but i didnt really used a proxy to this model... first i make a polygon surface, and move that in from of the t-rex, than just push/pull it, and move and scale... I modeled in this geometry... [image: rex4.jpg] Than just smooth it.. with subdivide and smooth tool. I modeled it as they do in 3ds max..and other expensive programs

Thanks for the advice everyone. I was using the mouse + scroll the whole time and not alt + right click drag. At the moment it's hard to get the angle I want, but I'm sure a bit of experience will sort that out. So I got into a model (was just testing the church of light) and found it extremely difficult to set up the interior - I would have already ruled interiors out if I had not seen kwistenbiebel's example above. I have a pretty good feeling that i'll still be using vray for interiors though

Hi scottpara, Just had a quick look at your website. Some nice rendered shots. I notice you have used SU Podium, Vray and Artlantis Studio 2. I didn't see any examples of Hypershot. Do you have any to view? As you seem to have experience of using all these renderers can you give some impressions of what you think of them? Having taken a quick look at them myself, Vray seems to produce the best results (beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I know). and has a reputation for being fast. But I also found it to have the most stark interface with a steep learning curve. For best results it also requires you to use its own optimised materials. For Sketchup, these seem to be in very short supply. There are suggestions for converting the vast material libraries available for 3DS MAX for use in SketchUp. For such an expensive program that seems pretty ridiculous! SU Podium seems to be the most user friendly and well integrated option for use with SketchUp. The next version with its new features, sounds like it could make it a powerful tool. I believe Artlantis Studio 2 requires you to export SketchUp files and then import them. I have always thought this to be too much of a kludge. I prefer integrated solutions. However, I suppose the results are more important. I would be interested to hear your views. Regards Mr S
